Campeador’s jumping is a cause for concern and he has fallen in four of his last six outings. However, he is a talented sort with the potential to make up into a smart chaser if putting things together.

The 152-rated hurdler got no further than the second on his chasing debut at Navan last month but he won’t get many better opportunities than this race and a clear round will see him take beating.

He might have most to fear from stablemate Roaring Bull who is a useful hurdler and might just have found the run coming too soon when he made his chasing debut at Navan last month. On that occasion Roaring Bull was a well held sixth behind Jetz.

In a race that represents a drop in class Dinnie’s Vinnie is taken to follow up his career best effort at this track a fortnight ago when he ran out a brave 5½l winner of the Porterstown Chase over 3m 5f.

He is now 7lbs higher and he is dropping back markedly in trip but he has plenty of form at around this distance and his last effort suggested he was better than ever.

Dinnie’s Vinnie gets the vote to see off Consharon Boy who fell in the early stages of a Gowran handicap two months ago but is a capable and reliable type at this level.

Farid is put forward to make a winning Irish debut in a race where his trainer Willie Mullins has a particularly strong record. The champion trainer has won four of the last six running of this race and he saddles an intriguing sort in this son of Diamond Boy who won his only start on the flat in France last April.

He could have most to fear from Lethal Steps who was quite a smart sort on the flat and held a rating of 102 when he was last in action on the level. Although Lethal Steps was disappointing on his debut for his current trainer he could easily do much better now that his attentions are switched to jumping.

A chance is taken that Column Of Fire will progress from his hurdling debut at this track a couple of weeks ago when he was beaten 5l into third by Lone Wolf.

He was unable to justify favouritism that day but that did look like quite a reasonable maiden hurdle and he shaped like a horse who would sharpen up a good deal as a result of that initial experience over timber.

In addition the slightly longer trip of this race will work in his favour. He is chosen ahead of the smart dual bumper winner Dunvegan who picked up useful jumping experience when chasing home the subsequent Grade 2 winner Pallasator in a Leopardstown maiden in March.

All The Chimneys, who won this race in 2016, bounced back to form to score at Clonmel last week. He only had a neck to spare that day and he is now 5lbs higher but that may not be enough to prevent the course and distance winner from making his mark.

He is a useful sort at this level and there could easily be more to come from him so he gets the vote ahead of handicap newcomer Ming Dynasty.

The latter has struggled somewhat in maiden hurdles but he was once a smart flat horse and he might do better now that he switches to handicaps. Empire Burleque is another newcomer to handicaps who could show up well.

This could see Brosna George bounce back from a fall at Punchestown last month. He departed at the second last that day when still in contention and that effort followed his victory in a 3m handicap hurdle at Down Royal at the start of November. He also showed up well to take second in a 2m 4f handicap here and there could easily be more to come from him over hurdles.

Goodnightngodbless won a 3m handicap hurdle at Tipperary in May and showed up well on her next two outings before then struggling at Listowel a few months ago.

She could be dangerous on his return from a three month break.

Blue Heather gets a very speculative vote. She was sent off a 50/1 shot for a useful looking bumper here a couple of weeks and didn’t run at all badly to be beaten 22l by Envoi Allen. Possibly this race represents a drop in class for Gavin Cromwell’s charge and she should improve for that initial outing.

She faces a number of credible threats including the Fasola Tido, who is a half-sister to several winners, and the winning pointer Larquebuse. Dona Katherina has run some solid races in defeat but will probably need to do better to play a leading role here.
