1.10 Curragh Where Champions Are Made Maiden 7f

Khartoum can build on a satisfactory debut at Naas last month where he was beaten just under 2l into third in a maiden won by Deputy Sandy. One point of concern is the ground as it looks like being appreciably slower than it was at Naas.

Cooper’s Hawk was third to Brazil at this track. He possibly didn’t match that level of form next time but he still looks more than capable here.

Iowa was beaten 7l into fourth when favourite for a maiden here in August, a race won by the subsequent National Stakes winner Thunder Moon.

SELECTION: KHARTOUM

Next best: Cooper’s Hawk

1.40 Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital Handicap 6f

Beckwith Place was beaten a head by Tresorier over this course and distance in August and did better still last time when he lost out by ½l to A Step Too Far in a premier handicap over 5f at this track.

Lil Grey is a big danger. She was beaten 5½l into seventh in a Group 3 over this course and distance last time but her previous third in the Bold Lad Handicap at this track is a very strong piece of form. The soft-ground-loving Lustown Baba and Silver Spear are others that could make their presence felt.

SELECTION: BECKWITH PLACE

Next best: Lil Grey

2.10 Jebel Ali Racecourse & Stables Anglesey Stakes (Group 3) 6f 63yds

Aunty Bridy looks a solid option as she drops down from 7f for the first time. She was a respectable sixth place in the Moyglare Stud Stakes and last time out she again ran with credit to finish a 1½l second to Elysium in the Weld Stakes. Kevin Manning has opted for her over her Group 3-winning stablemate New Treasure.

Lipizzaner is taking a marked drop in grade following a respectable sixth-place finish in the Middle Park Stakes and he wouldn’t need to improve much on that. The Blenheim Stakes heroine Lady Princess is also respected and it is worth recalling that she won her maiden on testing ground at Bellewstown.

SELECTION: AUNTY BRIDY

Next best: Lipizzaner

2.40 Staffordstown Stud Stakes (Listed) 1m

A speculative vote goes to Earth Strike. She looked a potentially high-class filly when scoring over 7f at Leopardstown on testing ground in August and, while the form of that race has taken a few knocks, the that victory was striking.

She had to settle for seventh behind Monday in the Ingabelle Stakes, but that steady run on quick ground may not have suited.

April Showers won a maiden over 1m on soft ground at Navan in late August. When she was second in a maiden at Cork several weeks before Navan, April Showers finished ½l in front of Ahandfulofsummers, who was then second in the Flame Of Tara Stakes at this track. The last-named is another likely contender and her showing at Group 3 level points to the prospects of April Showers.

Sweet Gardenia defeated some useful colts to win a listed race over an extended 7f at Tipperary last weekend.

SELECTION: EARTH STRIKE

3.10 Novi IT Services International Stakes (Group 3) 1m 2f

Up Helly Aa’s second to So Wonderful in the Ruby Stakes at Killarney represented a good comeback run and last time out he again ran with credit to be beaten just over 4l into third by Tiger Moth in a 1m 4f Group 3 Leopardstown. He will have no trouble coming back to this trip.

The vastly improved Sonnyboyliston was a most impressive winner of a premier handicap over this course and distance last month and has risen a remarkable 44lb in the ratings for winning three of his four starts this season. Etneya, Order Of Australia and Fiscal Rules are others that command respect.

SELECTION: UP HELLY AA

Next best: Sonnyboyliston

3.40 Paddy Power Irish Cesarewitch 2m

This could fall to Run For Mary whose rider, Sam Ewing, claims a very valuable 7lb. She won over 2m 1f at Bellewstown and her latest effort at Galway is compelling as she was beaten just 1¼l into second by the subsequent Prix du Cadran winner Princess Zoe.

Shoshone Warrior is a decent stayer and he comes here off a cracking handicap debut, a ½l second to Halimi in a premier handicap over just short of 1m 5f at Leopardstown.

De Name Escapes Me and Great Bear are others that could run well.

SELECTION: RUN FOR MARY

Next best: Shoshone Warrior

4.10 Chapmans Kildare Amateur Riders Derby 1m 4f

Mt Leinster won a 1m 4f maiden at Galway and notched up his second success on the flat at Listowel recently. A rating of 97 puts this talented dual-purpose runner on a different footing.

The very useful Run For Oscar won a 1m 6f maiden at Killarney in July on his most recent flat start.

SELECTION: MT LEINSTER

Next best: Run For Oscar

4.40 extra.ie Apprentice Handicap 1m

After getting off the mark in a 1m 1f handicap at Tipperary last month, Overheer might be able to add to his tally. He picked up a 9lb rise in the ratings for Tipperary, but thaat form was given a boost when the runner-up, Blankiedoodie, won at Thurles.

Up With The Play’s fourth to Daylight Come in a Gowran Park maiden last month suggested that he could be a force when he moved into handicaps.

SELECTION: OVERHEER
