12.17 Irish EBF Maiden 1m

Choctaw Nation shaped like a smart prospect on debut at Navan, chasing home the now twice Group 1-placed Jesus Green, and finishing clear of the third. Stablemate Book Of Kells is bred to be special, as a Dubawi brother to Auguste Rodin, and has to be respected on debut.

The selection appears to have stronger form than Adversity and Cracks And Sparks, who both ran well last time out, while well-related newcomers Bright Dream and Favour Royal are also worth a market check.

SELECTION: CHOCTAW NATION

Next best: Adversity

12.52 Mongey Communications Sprint Handicap 5f

Sam Coen’s 5lb claim gives top-weight Stag Night a chance of following up on his recent win and besides, this course-and-distance winner usually gives punters a run for their money.

Smoke Them Out is another in fine form, mostly recently chasing home a rival now rated 103, and encountered another well-treated individual on her two previous starts.

The lightly-raced nine-year-old Magical Vision also has strong form in this division and runs well fresh, so a summer break shouldn’t be an issue. Gerrit’s Gem, runner-up on his last two starts, completes the shortlist.

SELECTION: STAG NIGHT

A case could be made for plenty here, including Go Just Do It, who had smart form as a two-year-old and returned to win his maiden in fine style. Absent since the Irish 2000 Guineas, he’s likely been kept until the ground eased again, the same applying to Valentino Eclipse, who won well on heavy ground last month.

A return to seven furlongs is a positive, and may also work in favour of the once promising, lightly-raced Hazdann, in first-time cheekpieces.

Storm Ready is favoured over fellow recent winner Unique Journey on the shortlist, with the latter now without his 7lb claimer.

SELECTION: GO JUST DO IT

Next best: Hazdann

2.02 Isuzu Ireland Handicap 7f

Therewillbeglory gained a well-deserved win at Naas last time out, easing five lengths clear, and looks well-treated at a mark of 76. Her penultimate start here, when second against a number of these rivals, enhances her appeal.

Lady Mary Heath had little luck in running when catching the eye here twice this season and enjoyed a change in fortune when getting off the mark on Thursday at Punchestown. Provided she’s none the worse for wear from that effort, she could be worth another shot.

Frustrating Epsom Oaks favourite Amelia Earhart is the class act and this drop in class would look an ideal opportunity for her to get her head back in front, if it weren’t for three runs already this month over stamina-sapping trips.

Asakir, in contrast, had a break before finishing fourth in the Group 2 Prix Chaudenay, finishing just ahead of hat-trick seeker Victoir Magique and favourite Pierre Bonnard. Johnny Murtagh’s charge is open to further improvement, as is Juddmonte homebred Abbotsford, last seen winning a premier handicap over this trip.

SELECTION: ASAKIR

Next best: Abbotsford

3.12 Keadeen Hotel Premier Handicap 1m

Five come here off the back of a win, and plenty more off fine placed efforts, including Iamimmaculate and Majestic King who finished first and third over a furlong further here early in the month.

Today’s trip should work in favour of Majestic King and the fifth horse Lady Lilac, who also benefits from Paddy Harnett’s 3lb claim. Uncle Goalie shares some smart form with Majestic King, only fading late on at Leopardstown last time out. The lightly-raced three-year-old remains open to further improvement.

SELECTION: LADY LILAC

Next best: Majestic King

3.47 Velo Coffee At The Curragh Maiden 1m 4f

Loosen And Limber took a significant step forward on her second start here and a similar level of improvement should see her go close today.

Joe Cool isn’t the most consistent but his numerous placed efforts give him a strong chance on his best form, while Checkered’s debut fifth suggests he’s capable of making his mark in a maiden of this calibre.

Useful hurdler Starting Fifteen was well-beaten on his recent flat debut but was well-supported, suggesting he’s capable of better.

SELECTION: LOOSEN AND LIMBER

Next best: Joe Cool

Thread Of Gold looked a group horse in a handicap when winning the Guinness Handicap in Galway, following up on his Nasrullah Handicap win earlier that month. His subsequent fifth-placed effort in the Group 3 Kilternan Stakes can be upgraded, as it was a race where prominently ridden horses fared much the best.

The beautifully-bred Together Now has improved with every run, most recently scoring over course and distance, and looks capable of making his mark at this level. The Austrian looks a work in progress as he seeks his third straight win and can’t be dismissed.
