2.15 AT THE RACES NURSERY HANDICAP 6F

Anna May Wong has been running to quite a respectable standard lately and she might find this race within her reach. At Leopardstown last week she was a respectable fifth to the exciting Holy Cat and she filled the same position behind Mr Scarlet in a reasonable Naas maiden prior to that. However, the strongest pointer to her chances might be her 1l third to Noivado in a useful Fairyhouse maiden in early July. Bective was less than ½l behind Anna May Wong at Fairyhouse and his other form includes a 3½l fourth to Peace Envoy in the Rochestown Stakes. He should make his presence felt here.

Selection: ANNA MAY WONG

Next best: Bective

This should see Churchill continue his rise up the ranks. The Chesham Stakes winner produced a nice performance in the Tyros Stakes last time out and he had a bit more to spare than the winning margin of a neck over Alexios Komnenos might suggest. He began his career with a pleasing run on slow ground, but his chances would be better served if the ground didn’t ease too much over the weekend. An obvious threat is stablemate Capri. He won a maiden in good style at Galway and turned out just six days later to dominate a useful listed contest at Tipperary. Capri has the capacity to give Churchill a stern test while he should reverse form with Arcada, who beat him by ½l in a maiden here last month. Radio Silence and Lancaster Bomber are two lightly raced colts with more to offer but probably wouldn’t want the ground to ease too much.

Selection: CHURCHILL

Next best: Capri

3.15 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MAIDEN 7F

San Remo is an unoriginal choice in a race confined to newcomers. One of three Ballydoyle representatives, this colt is a son of Frankel, whose first crop of runners have done especially well this year. Furthermore, he boasts an impressive pedigree as a half-brother to the American Grade 1 heroine Dubawi Heights and last year’s top-class French colt Make Believe. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if he were given most to do by Tradfest. This High Chaparral filly is a half-sister to last season’s high class juvenile Smash Williams, who made a winning start to his career on the corresponding weekend in 2015.

Selection: SAN REMO

Next best: Tradfest

A fascinating clash of the generations and Fascinating Rock is given marginal preference over US Army Ranger. Dermot Weld’s English Champion Stakes hero looked better than ever when trouncing Found in the Tattersalls Gold Cup here in May and he sets a very high standard. However, he is coming back from a mid-season break and it is already well-documented how well he progresses from his comeback runs. On the other hand, US Army Ranger also comes here off a near three-months absence. He ran a tremendous race to be beaten just 1½l by Harzand in the Derby at Epsom and there is surely more to come from him after just three starts. Both he and Fascinating Rock are using this race as a springboard to more high-profile targets later this autumn. Endless Drama is interesting on his first try at this trip while a substantial easing in the ground would make Success Days a danger to all.

Selection: FASCINATING ROCK

Next best: US Army Ranger

Brave Anna is due to run for the first time since her fine Royal Ascot triumph in the Albany Stakes where she had subsequent Lowther Stakes winner Queen Kindly back in third. However, a potentially significant easing in the ground must be a worry for the War Front filly and Seamie Heffernan, who has ridden her on his last two outings, is due to partner Rhododendron. Taking all this into account Rehana gets the vote. This daughter of Dark Angel progressed from an encouraging debut to dominate a fillies’ maiden over this course and distance on Derby weekend. That 2¼l defeat of Rhododendron makes for impressive reading and suggests that Michael Halford’s charge is one of the leading players for this prize. Rhododendron has since won well at Goodwood and could represent a bigger threat than stablemate Hydrangea, who won nicely over this course and distance two weeks ago. Intricately’s third in the Silver Flash Stakes is a good effort and puts her into contention.

Selection: REHANA

Next best: Rhododendron

4.45 LUKE & NELLIE COMER APPRENTICE HANDICAP (60-80) 1M

This could go to Flying Fairies who has held her form well since picking up a 7f maiden at Fairyhouse in June. She followed that success with a fourth to Penny Pepper in a 7f premier fillies’ handicap on Derby weekend and last time out she finish a good third to Spruce Meadows at Galway. She shouldn’t have any trouble stepping up to a mile and has the notable assistance of Killian Leonard. The former Navan bumper Not A Whisper is a threat. She won a 7f maiden at Fairyhouse last month and followed that with a reasonable run behind Have A Nice Day the following week. This slightly longer trip could suit as would any easing in the ground.

Selection: FLYING FAIRIES

Next best: Not A Whisper

5.15 BREAST CANCER RESEARCH MAIDEN 1M 2F

Tree Of Knowledge got his career off to a satisfactory start at Leopardstown earlier this month, when he finished a 2¾l second to Laoch Na Mi, and the benefit of that first run should enable the Oasis Dream colt to step forward on the form that he showed there. Stablemate Big Ben looks a big danger having begun his career with a promising third to Stellar Mass in a 1m 4f maiden here two months ago. Saafarr is more exposed than a number of these rivals but he is certainly good enough to win a maiden and his recent runner-up finishes behind Reckless Gold and Sikandarabad makes him one of the foremost contenders.

Selection: TREE OF KNOWLEDGE

Next best: Big Ben

She is still open to plenty of improvement and with this longer trip looking as though it could suit, Cirin Toinne is chosen to make it two wins from three starts. She began her career with a 1m 2f Leopardstown maiden win last month and showed up well on her handicap debut at Gowran Park last week when beaten just a neck by Lady Fandango. She has been raised 5lbs for that display but should cope with that rise. Stablemate Ceol Na Nog will be dangerous as she looks to build on a solid third in a 1m 4f handicap won by My Direction at Gowran last week. Nonetheless has come forward nicely in each of her three runs so far and also appeals as a leading contender.

Selection: CIRIN TOINNE
