2.20 ANGLESEY LODGE EQUINE HOSPITAL EBF MAIDEN (PLUS 10 RACE) 1M

Not much racecourse evidence to rely on for this opening contest, however it should pay to keep an eye on the runners from the O’Brien and Bolger stables. The former had a five-timer at Leopardstown on Thursday and his horses are really in form at present. Cole Porter, the selection of Joseph O’Brien, is a well-related son of Galileo who has a host of big race entries. If fully tuned up for this first start he may be good enough to take the spoils. Stellar Mass, representing Jim Bolger, also comes with a big reputation and if the selection fails to deliver he looks the one most likely to step in.

SELECTION: COLE PORTER

Next Best: Stellar Mass

2.50 LODER EUROPEAN BREEDERS FUND FILLIES RACE (PLUS 10 RACE) 7F

Santa Monica sets a fair standard following her staying on fourth in a Group 3 at Leopardstown on her latest outing. The Charles O’Brien-trained filly had previously hinted at ability when catching the eye on her debut and subsequent maiden start. With those experiences under her belt she holds a definite advantage here and looks the one they all have to beat. Camellia Japonica showed plenty of promise when running on nicely to finish second on her only start to date and Joe Murphy’s Zoffany offspring looks certain to improve from that effort and go close.

SELECTION: SANTA MONICA

Next Best: Camellia Japonica

3.20 GABRIEL CURRAN MEMORIAL HANDICAP 7F

Your Pal Tal was most unlucky when just caught close home over 6f here last month. Johnny Levins’ five-year-old had an excellent all-weather campaign and has translated that improvement to turf. There is no reason to suggest he will not stay the longer distance of this race, as he had plenty of polytrack form over 7f. Dropped in class here and with the excellent Donagh O’Connor claiming off top-weight, he looks the one to be on. Ohh Lala was strongly supported in a handicap at Galway last month but got no run at any stage and is much better than that effort suggests. She could be one to outrun her odds and sneak into the frame at a big price, very much a horse for each-way backers.

SELECTION: YOUR PAL TAL

Next Best: Ohh Lala

4.20 QATAR RACING & EQUESTRIAN CLUB PHOENIX SPRINT STAKES (GROUP 3) 6F

Anthem Alexander takes a drop in class here having contested Group 1 sprints on her last two starts. Eddie Lynam’s filly made a pleasing seasonal reappearance at Naas in June and was far from disgraced in her subsequent runs at both Ascot and Newmarket. She is the one runner in the line-up with scope for improvement and it would be disappointing if she didn’t make her presence felt. Her trainer has shown that he has few equals when it comes to handling sprinters and this represents a realistic target for the filly. British raiders always have to be respected on these shores and their representative Mattmu looks more than capable of making his presence felt.

SELECTION: ANTHEM ALEXANDER

Next Best: Mattmu

4.50 JOG FOR JOCKEYS 23RD AUGUST HANDICAP 1M

Marshall Jennings is almost certainly a good deal better than his most recent form may indicate. The former Richard Hannon trained three-year-old has had little go right for him since arriving in this country but that may all be about to change. Having been denied a clear run on his Irish debut, he found a slow pace against him on his next two starts, before once again failing to gain a clear passage on his latest run.

While he may well be one that makes his own trouble, the colt is worth one final chance to redeem himself. Cullentry Royal drops in trip but has plenty of pace and recent starts suggest that he is on the way back. If they go a good gallop he will be staying on better than anything and is certainly capable of a very big run.

SELECTION: MARSHALL JENNINGS

Next Best: Cullentry Royal

5.20 TIPPERARY CRYSTAL NURSERY HANDICAP (PLUS TEN RACE) 5F

Despite giving weight all round, Know could be the best handicapped horse in this finale. David Wachman’s filly was an eyecatcher on her debut at Navan and can be forgiven a poor run in a tactical affair at Leopardstown subsequently. She showed plenty of ability when runner-up at Naas on her third start, and with a decent draw here, she will get a nice tow into the race. Touch Of Frost is a tough, genuine sort who has looked a real professional in his starts to date. Perfectly housed against the rail, he will make a bold bid and should take plenty of catching.
