1.15 Barronstown Stud Irish EBF Maiden 7f
With normal improvement from his encouraging debut when second here behind smart-looking stablemate Amadeus Mozart, there’s every chance that Dorset will be hard to beat. He wasn’t the quickest into stride on that occasion and showed his fair share of greenness, but
he did some nice work all the same. The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt cost €400,000 as a yearling and is out of a sister to classic heroine Winter, so the son of Wootton Bassett is bred to be high-class too.
Al Haarith went through the ring for 475,000gns as a yearling and rates a fascinating newcomer for Joseph O’Brien. The Lope De Vega colt is a brother to Antonia De Vega, who won two Group 3s, one at seven furlongs as a two-year-old and the other over a mile and a half (beating Arc heroine Alpinista).
There are several others who make appeal on paper ahead of debuting here - like Ballydoyle second-string Benvenuto Cellini - while Unbreakable Duke is a barrier trial winner who wasn’t beaten far on his six-furlong debut at Fairyhouse a fortnight ago.
SELECTION: DORSET
Next best: Al Haarith

Lady Iman would have been a leading fancy for the Albany or Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot last week, and connections’ decision to bypass the meeting for this much calmer Group 2 looks a shrewd move. Ger Lyons’ unbeaten filly has been highly impressive across her first three starts and had her listed form franked from two starts ago when beating subsequent Queen Mary winner True Love at this venue.
Beautify is still a maiden but she did run with credit to be third on debut here five weeks ago and the winner from that six-furlong maiden, Balantina, finished third in the Albany Stakes on her next start. Luna Mia is upped in class after a near miss on debut at Listowel, as is 80/1 Roscommon winner Leblon Queen.

2.20 Jebel Ali Racecourse And Stables Anglesey Stakes
(Group 3) 6f 63yd
A race that has been won in recent years by Group 1 scorers A Case Of You and Little Big Bear, but this year’s renewal looks disappointing enough on paper. Ballydoyle’s recent maiden winner at this track, Flushing Meadows, gets the verdict to maintain his unbeaten record. The third from that contest, North Coast, won by five and a half lengths at Down Royal last week.
The obvious danger is Suzie Songs, whose Cork maiden-winning form on debut got a boost when the runner-up, Havana Anna, collected at Naas on Wednesday by six lengths. She looks a bright prospect for Ger Lyons, who has won two of the last four runnings of this contest.
SELECTION: FLUSHING MEADOWS
Next best: Suzie Songs
2.55 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai International Stakes In Honour Of Kevin Prendergast (Group 3) 1m 2f
Trustyourinstinct is probably better over slightly further and must give weight away to all rivals, but he looks the standout here and can build on a convincing mile-and-a-half listed victory here five weeks ago. The ground should be in his favour and arrives with better recent form than any of his rivals.
Elizabeth Jane has an appealing profile to land a race like this in 2025 but hasn’t run for 251 days and probably wants slower ground, so is likely best watched for now. Deepone was safely held in the Tattersalls Gold Cup on his comeback last time, having been off for more than a year, and improvement can be expected now dropping in class. Layfayette didn’t run badly when third at Limerick last week and could reach the frame.
SELECTION: TRUSTYOURINSTINCT
Next best: Deepone
4.05 Sherry FitzGerald Country Homes Ladies’ Derby Handicap 1m 2f
The style in which Masoun won on only his third start for Joseph O’Brien last time at Leopardstown suggested he could be up to going in again off a higher mark. The handicapper has raised him 7lb, but he’s clearly in good heart right now and has been at his best at the Curragh for his previous connections.
The booking of British-based rider Elizabeth Gale for this ladies-only event is intriguing, with the 7lb-claimer having ridden four winners from her last 12 rides in the past fortnight (as of declaration time).
Bear Profit bounced back to winning ways at Leopardstown three weeks ago and should go close again for Nicola Burns, Georgie Benson is a positive booking for recent Leopardstown third Final Voyage and Tatateo is a complete blank canvas on the flat for Denis Hogan. The mount of Jody Townend was only beaten a neck by Kalpana in a Wolverhampton novice back in January 2024.
SELECTION: MASOUN
Next best: Bear Profit
4.40 Fitzpatrick’s Mercedes-Benz Handicap 6f
A tricky contest in which Gordon Bennett gets another chance to add to his winning record at this track. From 16 appearances at the Curragh, he’s won twice, been second twice and earned prize money on four other visits here, including when winning the Joe McGrath Premier Handicap off a mark of 90 back in 2022. He’s now down to a rating of 70 and isn’t the force of old but ran well enough when third last time at Fairyhouse to suggest he might still have one of these in him.
Cases can be made for any of Eddie Lynam’s four-strong team, but the booking of Colin Keane for Collective Power is eyecatching and he’s still competing off his last winning mark. This looks the eight-time winner’s ideal trip.
SELECTION: GORDON BENNETT
Next best: Collective Power

Stella Alpina disappointed as 9/4 favourite in a handicap at Fairyhouse a fortnight ago, but she had some excuses for that run. Drawn widest of all over a course and distance where low draws are very much preferable, she didn’t help her rider early and had to burn some petrol in the opening stages to get across to the lead. The veterinary officer also reported the 77-rated filly to be blowing hard post-race and to have a small wound on the inside of her right hind tendon area. The fact she turns out here suggests she must have recovered fine since then and a repeat of either of her previous two seconds should put her firmly in the picture for Willie McCreery.
Naples, turned over as evens-favourite on his debut for Paddy Twomey over a mile at Limerick 17 days ago, takes a noticeable drop in trip and could be a different prospect now, though he does need to step up. Sun Soldier ran with promise when second at 33/1 on debut at Navan six weeks ago and returns here in cheekpieces - he should be thereabouts. The same connections’ Best Suggestion disappointed a little at Tipperary last time, having shown up well on his Navan debut previously. He gets cheekpieces now too.
