Kevin Blake
2:25 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF FILLIES MAIDEN 1M
Found made a winning debut in this race last year prior to going on to Group 1 glory later in the season and this year Aidan O’Brien introduces an eye-catchingly named newcomer in Coolmore.
A full-sister to the classic winners Marvellous and Gleneagles, she is entered in multiple Group 1 races and can be expected to put up a bold show on her debut. The pick of those with form in the book is undoubtedly the John Oxx-trained Star Of Kings, with the daughter of Sea The Stars having run well to finish second to Lieutenant General in a maiden at Leopardstown last time.
Selection: COOLMORE
Next Best: Star Of Kings
3:00 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MAIDEN 6F
The market will provide the best guide to what is expected of the newcomers, but without the benefit of seeing that, a chance is taken on the experience of the Mick Halford-trained Indrahar. The daughter of Raven’s Pass caught the eye, making late gains, on her debut at Leopardstown and should be an awful lot sharper with that experience under her belt. It wouldn’t surprise if she improves enough to get in the mix. Of the newcomers, the Kevin Prendergast-trained Mizaah is a half-brother to the high-class juvenile Miss Beatrix and is entered in the National Stakes.
Selection: INDRAHAR
Next Best: Mizaah
3:35 GERRARDSTOWN HOUSE STUD SUPPORTING BREAST CANCER RESEARCH RENAISSANCE STAKES (GROUP 3) 6F
This is a really good renewal of this sprint and a chance is taken on an improving three-year-old in the shape of the Michael O’Callaghan-trained Letters Of Note.
The daughter of Azamour produced an improved effort to win a listed race over this trip at Naas last time, shaping better than the bare result having hit the front too soon.
There should be more to come from her and she is an intriguing contender. Of the established Group 1 sprinters in the field, the Tom Hogan-trained Gordon Lord Byron seems sure to run another big race following his excellent third in the Prix Maurice De Gheest.
Selection: LETTERS OF NOTE
Next Best: Gordon Lord Byron
4:10 BREAST CANCER RESEARCH DEBUTANTE STAKES (GROUP 2) 7F
As it often does, this race has attracted some of the most promising juvenile fillies in the country.
The best of them could well be the David Wachman-trained Most Beautiful. The daughter of Canford Cliffs has impressed in winning a maiden at Navan and a Group 3 at this track.
While she shows plenty of pace, she should stay this longer trip and seems sure to go close.
Aidan O’Brien saddles three promising fillies and the pick of them may well be Alice Springs who only found the exciting Tanaza too good for her in a Group 3 at Leopardstown last time.
Selection: MOST BEAUTIFUL
Next Best: Alice Springs
4:45 CURRAGH STAKES (GROUP 3) 5F
An interesting renewal of this contest and marginal preference is given to the Ger Lyons-trained Bear Cheek. The daughter of Kodiac created a very good impression when making a winning debut at Naas in July, showing a fine turn of foot on her way to winning by three lengths. Of those with stakes form in the book, the Eddie Lynam-trained Promised Money has strong claims based on her win in listed company at Tipperary last time.
Selection: BEAR CHEEK
Next Best: Promised Money
5:20 IRISH TIMES HANDICAP (60-90) 1M
The Sabrina Harty-trained Empress Toorah has really started to progress of late and can complete her hat-trick in this contest.
While her last two wins have come over seven furlongs, she has won over a mile-and-a-quarter previously, so the return to a mile will hold no fears for her.
The pick of her rivals looks to be the Dermot Weld-trained Katimavik, with the four-year-old having won a handicap over this course and distance last time.
Selection: EMPRESS TOORAH
Next Best: Katimavik
5:50 LONGINES WORLD FEGENTRI CHAMPIONSHIP FOR LADY RIDERS HANDICAP 1M 4F
This race is never too easy to work out, as many of the lady amateur riders will be unfamiliar to most.
Purely on the form book, the Peter Fahey-trained High Kicker is in very good form and will much prefer this track to Tramore at which she finished a close second last weekend.
The best of the rest looks to be the James Barrett-trained Three Colours Red.
Selection: HIGH KICKER
