Ballydoyle has won the last two runnings with subsequent Group 1 winners and Ryan Moore’s choice of Brussels puts him top of the list. Kansas’ promising debut rates him highly, especially over this furlong further.

Killourney Reigns and Slaudeen, both promising debutants over course and distance, are also on the shortlist.

Newcomers worth a market check include six-figure yearlings Learntodiscover and Maximum Scepticism.

Mehmas colt Cisterna and Ennoble, a full-brother to a listed-winning juvenile, also appeal on pedigree.

This looks an easier task for Trustyourinstinct, who chased home two Group 1 winners last time. A Group 3 winner over this trip, he should appreciate any rain that falls, as will 500,000gns purchase Magical Hope.

The French import won a listed race over 10 furlongs, but is bred to get this trip and potentially further. Her stable’s strong start to the season is another positive.

Yard form and trip also play in favour of Siege Of Troy, who ran well over this distance in the Give Thanks Stakes.

Sea The Boss enters equations based on her Group 3 win 12 months ago, but produced a laboured effort under a penalty on her seasonal return. She may not be the same filly this year, though today’s race conditions could help her case.

Colin Keane won this on Crystal Black last year and looks to have another leading chance with Himalayan Heights. A winter’s break and gelding operation seemed to have made a difference to this son of Camelot, judging by last month’s stylish win.

Dutch Gold ran on strongly in the Cork Derby last time, finishing a close fourth behind two talented horses. First-time cheekpieces could bring further improvement from this course-and-distance winner.

Soaring Monarch finished fourth in the valuable Northfields Handicap over course and distance, when he raced keenly, and likely needed the run in the Irish Lincoln.

Aeronautic intrigues on handicap debut, but may be seen to better effect over further.

Storm Boy, a three-time group winner in his native Australia, puts the southern hemisphere to the test. The closest he got to Group 1 glory was half a length over seven furlongs, which rates him higher than the remainder today.

My Mate Alfie has the best Irish form and should come on from his seasonal reappearance, while rain may help the chances of the game Big Gossey.

Grand Grey and Lethal Levi finished just half a length apart last month and are hard to separate as Britain’s best chance to win this for a fourth consecutive year. The former appears more likely to progress, given that it came on his stable debut.

Iberian has shown zest after returning to sprinting, he may find it tougher at this grade now.

Jack Kearney’s valuable 3lb claim could make all the difference to Irish Lincoln winner Orandi, who has gone up 9lb for that win and close third in the English equivalent.

British raider Skukuza looks well-treated, rated just 4lb higher than when he took second in the Britannia Stakes, finishing clear of the third. Last year’s winner State Actor also remains at a fair mark but may come on from the run.

Lord Church caught the eye on his seasonal return and first start for a yard known for executing plans to perfection.

Unexposed five-year-old Marakesh made an encouraging handicap debut last month, on what was just her third career start, finishing second to a filly who subsequently gained blacktype. She remains on the same mark and is open to further progression.

Chicago Fireball showed some useful course form last season and a drop in the ratings could see him return to winning ways for an in-form team.

Plume Noire was narrowly denied in a valuable fillies’ handicap here last summer and won on her seasonal debut 12 months ago, so the seven-year-old’s absence may be of little concern.

While Jack Kearney takes a valuable 3lb off her, Colin Keane has sided with stablemate Genuine Article.

East Hampton received a 7lb hike for his Madrid Handicap win, but given that it was his seasonal return, and first start since being gelded, he is open to further progress.

Clive Cox’s decision to send Shameful is telling, as is his booking of Colin Keane. Jagged Edge looked a smart type when winning and earned a seemingly appropriate mark, but it’s difficult to be confident against more experienced rivals today.

Collecting Coin, who finished third that day, runs on Friday evening, which may provide clues.

Esherann was well-supported on debut at Leopardstown earlier this month, when he separated two more experienced rivals. He can be expected to come on from that, especially over this trip.

The same owner’s Rizal was sent off favourite on debut and, though he disappointed, can be expected to make a bolder show today.

This track and trip should suit the well-related Valorous Power; a promising fourth on his first attempt at Killarney.

Propose is another promising type open to improvement.
