Ganapathi represents powerful connections and won’t need to be anything above average in order to make a winning hurdling debut. Successful in his only start in France, the son of Samum has already shown his ability to handle heavy ground. With nothing standing out among his rivals he can start with a win.

Morph has plenty of experience over hurdles which is a major factor in his favour. His stable had a recent winner in this sphere so he has to be respected.

Grand Bornand can make it a quick double for the Mullins/Townend team in this second division. Although absent since winning in France in June 2019, that is never an issue with runners from this stable. Despite running in the stronger of the two heats he may just have enough ability to see him through.

Takarengo has been running consistently in hurdles and on the flat of late. He is well due a win at this stage and looks a leading contender once again.

Appreciate It could potentially make a good day even better for Closutton by bringing up a quick fire treble. A leading bumper horse last season, he looks set to take high rank among the novice hurdle brigade this winter and really should make short work of these before moving on to greater things.

Mammy Shark is put forward as a token danger although realistically it would be a huge shock if the Mullins horse doesn’t justify short odds in impressive fashion.

SELECTION: APPRECIATE IT

You Say Nothing looked all over a winner when coming to grief at Fairyhouse last time out. He has only been raised 2lbs on the back of that run so should have every chance of collecting this weak contest. Both the track and ground are very much in his favour now.

Karawaan is an interesting runner on his handicap debut. Winner of the Lincoln for Ger Lyons last year, he has caught the eye in his new career and the fitting of first-time cheekpieces might bring about further improvement.

SELECTION: YOU SAY NOTHING

Internal Transfer is an interesting runner here particularly with the champion jockey booked. A high-class handicap chaser at his best, he seems to have lost his way somewhat, so the decision to revert to hurdles looks a wise move. Aside from being rated much lower over flights, he is relatively lightly raced at this discipline also.

Jukebox Jive is also potentially very well handicapped although he too has something to prove. Better known as a stayer on the flat, he has had very few opportunities over hurdles so remains open to improvement.

SELECTION: INTERNAL TRANSFER

Gin On Lime should take beating here in a race where plenty looks in her favour. Aside from receiving weight all round, she drops back to a more suitable trip and has had a previous run over fences. It looks a shrewd piece of placing by connections so with a clear round the four-year-old can take the spoils.

Yukon Lil is an obvious danger having attained a similar mark over hurdles. However, she does lack a previous run over fences and may not appreciate really testing conditions.

Chatham Street Lad loves it around here and can add a fourth course win to his record. A strong-travelling sort who stays well and appreciates an ease in the ground, he still has some mileage left off this 128 mark over fences and his jockey can claim a further 3lbs now. It will be a surprise if he isn’t fighting out the finish.

Off You Go was highly tried in novice company last season, often acquitting himself with credit. He will find life easier now handicapping so has to enter calculations.

Enjoy D’Allen has been placed on all three previous starts over fences and can get off the mark. He has done little wrong since switching codes, just running into one or two above average sorts along the way. He has improved for the fitting of cheekpieces of late and provided they continue to work he can take this contest.

Fauguernon looks the main danger having shaped with promise on his recent debut over fences.

SELECTION: ENJOY D’ALLEN
