1.20 PADDY POWER BETTING SHOPS MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

Okotoks has been found a good opportunity to get off the mark over hurdles. The five-year-old is capable of better than he showed when making his return to action in a Navan maiden hurdle in September when he could only manage eighth to Ballyoisin. Prior to that he won a Down Royal bumper in May and his hurdling form also includes a fine third to Identity Thief at Leopardstown last December. An intriguing rival is Fairly Legal who prevailed by a head when making his debut in a point-to-point at Dromahane last December.

Selection: OKOTOKS

1.55 PADDY POWER ACCA INSURANCE EBF NOVICE HURDLE (GRADE 3) 3M

This could see the high class staying chaser Goonyella make a successful comeback. A winner of the Midlands National last season before running a fine second in the Scottish National, this gelding often goes well on his reappearance and it is worth recalling that he finished a good second in a 2m 6f Punchestown conditions hurdle on his return last season. Furthermore his other hurdling form includes an excellent second to Don Poli over 3m at Clonmel a couple of seasons ago. He could have most to fear from Altiepix who won an extended 2m 6f maiden at Downpatrick before losing out by a nose to Baily Cloud in a rated novice hurdle at Galway last weekend.

Selection: GOONYELLA

Next Best: Altiepix

Positive Approach has shown enough to indicate that a maiden success is attainable and he would appear to hold a strong chance of getting off the mark here. Admittedly he hasn’t run for 210 days but the form he showed when going down by a neck to Venitien De Mai at Limerick last March could well suffice. Macs Legend is held by the selection on their meeting here last April but he certainly improved when taking third in a Killarney maiden in May that was won by Monasteradenpauric. As former point-to-point winners Listen Here and State Of Origin command respect.

Selection: POSITIVE APPROACH

3.05 PADDY POWER PADDYS NUMBERS WIN A MILLION EBF NOVICE CHASE (GRADE 3) 2M 4F

Less than a month after embarking on a chasing career, Lord Scoundrel can make it a hat-trick of wins over the larger obstacles. He was an easy winner of a Limerick beginner’s event several weeks ago and had no difficulty following up in a rated novice chase at Galway last weekend where he defeated Waaheb by 8l. Rightdownthemiddle, who fell when still in touch in a Punchestown novice chase won by The Game Changer, might give him most to do. Previously he produced a good effort to account for Rock The World and Guitar Pete in a novice chase at Listowel. Horendus Hulabaloo already has a rating of 135 over fences and that entitles him to respect. He was held when falling at the second last in the Kerry National last time.

Selection: LORD SCOUNDREL

Next Best: Rightdownthemiddle

3.35 PADDY POWER CORK GRAND NATIONAL HANDICAP CHASE (0-150) (GRADE B) 3M 4F

Dushrembrandt has pulled up on his last two starts but may have a much better chance than his recent form suggests. The best of his form over fences would put him in with every chance and it is worth remembering that he finished a good second to Vics Canvas (who upheld the form with a succession of good runs subsequently) in this race twelve months ago. He is now 8lbs higher but his proven capacity to cope well with the demands of this race earn him the vote. A Decent Excuse ran very well over an inadequate 2m at this track recently when he was fourth to Gentleman Duke. He will be much more at home over this trip and he represents a significant threat. The lightly weighted Tulsa Jack is another to keep in mind.

Selection: DUSHREMBRANDT

Next Best: A Decent Excuse

4.05 PADDY POWER BUTTEVANT SHOP HANDICAP HURDLE (80-109) 2M 4F

Following a successful venture over fences at Sligo, Perfect Woman is chosen to make a seamless switch back to hurdling.

On her penultimate start she won a 2m 4f maiden hurdle at Clonmel, beating Table Tips by 6l, and she is a generally reliable sort whose recent race fitness gives her a notable edge over several of her opponents. Hard Bought won two of his three starts at the end of last season and his Tipperary victory over Autumn Shades and Dollar And A Dream does read well in the context of this race. He might provide Perfect Woman with the sternest opposition.

Selection: PERFECT WOMAN

Next Best: Hard Bought

4.35 WEATHERBYS IRELAND GSB MARES (PRO/AM) FLAT RACE 2M

Pride Of The Braid should be able to mount a strong challenge for victory on her reappearance. She got off the mark on her second start last season when winning a bumper at Wexford and she did better again when signing off with a second to Now Let Go in a valuable mares contest at the Punchestown Festival.

That calibre of form means that she is preferred to Screaming Rose who made a winning debut at Galway in September when beating Glendine River by 2½l. Screaming Rose looked as though she would improve appreciably for that first outing.
