1.10 PADDY POWER BETTING SHOPS MAIDEN HURDLE 2M

It is very difficult to look beyond Nichols Canyon. High class on the level for John Gosden, the Authorized gelding has been bought to go jumping and sent to Willie Mullins. He looks capable of taking high rank in the novice division this season and in truth, it will be a shock to connections if he fails to get off the mark here. Last seen when easily accounting for Inis Meain in a listed race at Saint-Cloud, he faces nothing of that calibre here and will go to post a long odds-on shot. Motown Bob looks the one to take advantage. Third over course and distance two weeks ago, the de Bromhead runner has crucial hurdling experience on his side.

Selection: Nichols Canyon

Next Best: Motown Bob

Ask Vic can bring up a quick double for the Ruby Walsh/Willie Mullins combination, provided the ground does not deteriorate any further. Impressive on her last two starts, the mare has yet to race in really testing conditions, or indeed beyond 2m4f. However, there appears to be no reason why the trip should be an issue here. Marchese Marconi, though lacking the hurdling experience of most of these, is a decent flat horse, who should make his presence felt. Placed three times on the level (including third in Irish Cesarewitch) since winning his maiden hurdle at Galway, Aidan O’Brien’s five-year-old could be an above average recruit to jumping and will make them all work here.

Selection: Ask Vic

Next Best: Marchese Marconi

2.10 PADDY POWER BEST IN BETTING VALUE EBF MAIDEN HURDLE 2M4F

Pulled Mussel already had a huge reputation when making his racecourse debut in a bumper at this track back in April. Robert Tyner’s charge started at 2/5 on that occasion and never gave his supporters a moment’s worry. Now returning to the scene of that success, the five-year-old will take plenty of beating, provided he is fit enough on this reappearance. The Charles Byrnes-trained Rock On Fruity could give the selection most to do. Bought by J.P. McManus and sent to Byrnes, since finishing third in the Champion Point-to-Point bumper at Fairyhouse, he is open to any amount of improvement and looks capable of a bold showing in this race.

Selection: Pulled Mussel

Next Best: Rock On Fruity

Sadler’s Risk was the best of these over hurdles and made a bright start to his chasing career, when easily accounting for the useful Busty Brown at Roscommon. Prior to that run, he was deemed good enough to contest the Grade 1 Stayers Hurdle at Punchestown, where he was far from disgraced in sixth place. Henry de Bromhead’s six-year-old has the potential to be at least as good over fences and he can make it two from two here. Un Beau Matin has taken time to fulfil his early promise but appears to be doing so and he did little wrong on his chasing debut at Punchestown. He looks the one to take advantage of any slip ups by the de Bromhead horse.

Selection: Sadlers Risk

Next Best: Un Beau Matin

3.20 PADDY POWER CORK GRAND NATIONAL HANDICAP CHASE(GRADE B) 3M4F

Unoccupied is a regular competitor in these long distance handicap chases and Eoghan O’Grady’s eight-year-old can go one better than last year’s second placing. The Old Vic gelding was first past the post in the Ulster National at Downpatrick, before being disqualified and ended the season with a dogged display when taking a 3m6f handicap chase at Punchestown. A 7lb rise for that latter success, is offset by the services of Ruby Walsh. Ipsos Du Berlais is not the most consistent of horses but stays extremely well and is capable of running a huge race. Ger Fox claims a valuable allowance on the horse and the pair can at least make the frame.

Selection: Unoccupied

Next Best: Ipsos Du Berlais

3.50 PADDY POWER DAILY DOUBLE ODDS SPECIALS HANDICAP HURDLE 2M4F

Ruby Walsh could be going for a four-timer by the time this race rolls around and he must have every chance of doing so aboard the Tony Martin-trained Mydor. The four-year-old was impressive when landing a gamble on his handicap debut over 2m4f at Tipperary, overcoming a mistake at the final flight. A 9lb rise should not have been enough to stop him at Bellewstown, with the drop back to two-mile and faster ground, more likely explanations. Back to more favourable conditions, he looks a cut above this opposition and is given a confident vote. Montana Slim is dangerously well-handicapped at present and any market moves for the O’Hare runner should be noted.

Selection: Mydor

Next Best: Montana Slim

4.20 CORK RACECOURSE MALLOW MARES (PRO/AM) INH FLAT RACE 2M

A couple of potentially interesting newcomers are capable of upsetting the more established form. Of those that have already seen the racecourse, Paul Nolan’s Presavita looks the most likely to trouble the judge. An impressive winner at Wexford back in May, she is clearly above average and will make the debutantes work hard here. The latter are represented by the John Kiely-trained Pride Of The Braid and Eddie Harty’s Queens Wild. The former is interesting as her trainer has an excellent record in these type of races, while the Harty runner catches the eye due to the booking of Stuart Crawford.

Selection: Presavita

Next Best: Pride Of The Braid
