12.35 Galtee 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle 2m

This looks a good opportunity for Pasley. He met with defeat on his recent hurdling debut at Punchestown but lost little in going down to Sacchoandvanzetti. He will surely progress well as a result of that initial jumping experience and with first time cheekpieces to aid his cause he gets the vote. His biggest danger could be Bajan Excel who won on testing ground on the flat a couple of months ago and shaped well on his first start over hurdles at Gowran Park a couple of weeks ago when finishing third to Dinard Rose.

SELECTION: PASLEY

Next best: Bajan Excel

1.05 Charleville Cheese Maiden Hurdle 2m

Thousand Tears is a hopeful choice in a race where many have only limited appeal. He has shown ability on a couple of occasions including when falling at the last flight when still in with every chance in a maiden at Roscommon during the summer. Tecumseh Sherman may prefer a longer trip but must have every chance. This Downpatrick bumper winner was third to Fury Road in a Down Royal maiden hurdle last time and he would have been much closer only for paying the price for trying to match strides with the winner inside the final mile.

SELECTION: THOUSAND TEARS

Next best: Tecumseh Sherman

1.35 Kerry Group Stayers Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) 3m

A victory over this course and distance a month ago marked out Well Set Up as a likely contender for this prize and she could take all the beating if able to reproduce the form that saw her defeat the very useful Doctor Duffy that day.

This trip and soft ground looks ideal for her and she might be able to see off Vis Ta Loi who should relish stepping up to this trip following his victory at Clonmel last month. That success was achieved against a pair who went on to fill the minor placings in another maiden over that course and distance on Thursday. Vis Ta Loi is also entitled to improve for his first run since April 2018.

SELECTION: WELL SET UP

Next best: Vis Ta Loi

2.05 Low Low Handicap Hurdle 2m

Farid is quite interesting. He showed plenty of ability on his first couple of starts and his comeback at this track last month was somewhat encouraging as he shaped better than his final seventh place behind Tiger Voice would suggest. He is certainly open to further progress and he gets the vote ahead of Powersbomb who is looking to follow up a victory over fences at this track last month.

Powersbomb is a better chaser than a hurdler but is also better treated in this discipline and warrants due respect.

SELECTION: FARID

Next best: Powersbomb

2.35 Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase (Grade 2) 2m 160yds

He lacks the chasing experience of his key opponents but Cilaos Emery still gets the vote. This lightly raced seven-year-old looked a potentially top-drawer novice chaser when bolting up in a beginners’ chase at Gowran Park in January and his successful return from 10 months off at Naas last month when he trounced the Grade 1-winning Ornua was very taking. He might just be able to see off the 169-rated Ballyoisin.

The latter looked better than ever when defeating a trio of high-class novice chasers from last season in the Fortria Chase at Navan several weeks ago. He sets quite a standard and will be very dangerous from the front.

SELECTION: CILAOS EMERY

Next best: Ballyoisin

3.05 Kerry Group Irish EBF Mares Novice Chase (Grade 3) 2m 160yds

Sinoria impressed with the way she took to fences at Thurles last month. She produced a bold display from the front and accounted for a very decent rival in Good Thyne Tara. That effort suggests that she would be quite at home at graded level as a chaser and she is preferred to Elimay.

The latter was last seen when winning a listed mares’ hurdle at Killarney in May and other form last season included a second to Good Thyne Tara in a mares’ hurdle at Leopardstown. She should make a useful chaser.

SELECTION: SINORIA

Next best: Elimay

3.35 Kerrymaid Novice Handicap Hurdle (80-102) 2m 4f

The Chapel Field looks capable of bringing up a hat-trick. This six-year-old won twice within three days last month when scoring over two and a half miles at Fairyhouse before the dropping back to two miles at Thurles. Those wins have earned him a stone hike in the ratings but that should not be enough to prevent him from winning again.

His biggest danger could come from the reliable Crimson Chief.

SELECTION: THE CHAPEL FIELD
