Escapability sets a solid standard after posting an excellent run on his seasonal debut at Naas. Jessica Harrington’s colt picked up well in the heavy ground and he was never closer to both Bobby Boy and Full Moon than at the line. With improvement likely and racing on a similar surface, he looks the one to beat.

Both Seekamist and Intense Expression, making their debuts for powerful stables, are worth a market check but it may be that Way Back Home, who has plenty of experience banked already, chases the main selection home.

2:30 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF NOBLESSE STAKES (LISTED) 1M 4F

An intriguing listed race that should come down to three: Glamorous Approach, Bloomfield and Clear Skies. Bloomfield finished ahead of Glamorous Approach when the pair met over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown but Jim Bolger’s mare may be able to turn the tables now coming up to a mile and a half and given she is 7lbs better off at the weights. The daughter of New Approach is a really consistent mare and regularly ran to a mark of 102 last season.

For that reason, Bloomfield may well have to improve on her first run as a four-year-old with no weight allowance, which of course is very possible as this will be just her fourth start.

Clear Skies is a really tricky proposition to assess. Off her rating, 107, and at these weights, she looks to have a great chance. Then again she has done all her improving on the polytrack at Dundalk and was a little disappointing last time out in the Winter Derby at Lingfield. Glamorous Approach finished third in this race last season and she looks a solid option.

3:05 CORK RACECOURSE.IE HANDICAP 1M ½F

Not much form on offer here and so this is a tricky contest to assess with lightly-raced three-year-olds open to any amount of improvement. A tentative vote goes to Jessica Harrington’s Faughill who showed up well on her previous two runs, the latest of which was a good maiden won by Dermot Weld’s Contingent at Leopardstown. She may be able to defy an opening mark of 70.

Swing Till Dawn struggled on his seasonal debut when well behind Katie Cruel at Naas but at least she will be fit for that and she did show a little bit of promise when chasing home Berkeley Square at Tipperary last term.

It’s difficult to rule out any of the five runners here. Saltonstall is perhaps the most interesting, given he looks to have retained all the ability he showed as a juvenile with an excellent second in the Irish Lincolnshire, when he was reappearing off a 351-day gap.

The slight worry is the form from that race has been let down a few times, with the winner On The Go Again struggling on his next start at this track, where he bumped into the impressive Allegio.

Denis Hogan’s five-year-old has been put up 10lbs for that effort but with similar conditions, he can run well again.

Gymkhana raced on the same card as the Lincoln, and his race, won by Medicine Jack, looks to have worked a little better with the sixth horse Sors, coming out and winning at Navan.

He handles soft ground and he may be able to improve now on his second start of the season.

4:10 BLACKWATER MAIDEN 1M 2F

Giuseppe Garibaldi showed significant improvement from his debut to finish second to stablemate Flag Of Honour in a Group 3 contest at Leopardstown on only his second start. He really ought to be winning a race like this, with only three rivals to face, two of which are making their debut.

Chilton Foliat ran okay in two maidens last season and while his form doesn’t match up to the main selection, he should be able to beat the two debutants.

Our Anniversary looked to be an improved filly when winning on her seasonal debut at this course two weeks ago and she could go in again here. Lightly-raced, she has scope to improve further so a 7lb rise in the weights looks within her reach.

Happy Company was in good form at the back end of last season winning at Navan and then finishing a close second at Galway and it would be no surprise to see him involved.

Binary Code also has bits and pieces of form last season that would give him a chance. He finished a good third to Empress Lyla at the Galway Festival and this sort of trip should suit him.

Intense Stylist was in good form towards the end of last season and Albert Moriarty’s mare maybe able to pick up where she left off. She won a one-mile maiden in heavy ground at Listowel so conditions will be fine and though well beaten when she was last seen, she had little chance at the weights in a listed race won by Brendan Brackan and so actually didn’t disgrace herself.

Johnny Murtagh had a winner last weekend and Admirality could go well for him here. The four-year-old was last seen finishing second to a progressive sort Inscribe and with a lightly-raced profile, he can improve again on his first run of the season.
