Sacrificial has run with credit on both his starts to date and has every chance of getting off the mark. The Showcasing colt chased home the subsequent Debutante Stakes heroine Raydara on his debut at Leopardstown and then finished a 2¾l third to Parish Boy and Order Of St George at Naas last time. His cause wasn’t helped by a somewhat slow start in both of those races and he looks like one who will appreciate stepping up to this trip. Ol’ Man River is a newcomer of real note as a son of Montjeu and Finsceal Beo. Ol’ Man River is the selected of three Ballydoyle newcomers. Pincode chased home John F Kennedy last time and could run well along with Frozen Lake who looked very green on his debut here last month. I’ll Find My Way is interesting as a son of Galileo and a Cheveley Park Stakes runner-up.

Selection: SACRIFICIAL

Next Best: Ol’ Man River

Legatissimo looked a filly of some potential when coming from off the pace to win a maiden at Galway last month. The daughter of Danehill Dancer was unable to make an impression on her debut at Leopardstown but her Galway effort marked her out as one that could hold her own at a higher level. Jack Naylor is the one to beat having followed her Roscommon maiden win with a victory in the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown. That form looks all the better following the Debutante Stakes win of Raydara who could finish only fourth at Leopardstown. Jack Naylor has to contend with a 5lb penalty for her pattern race success. Together Forever came up against a smart looking rival in Found in a 1m maiden last weekend. Prior to that she was fourth to Legatissimo at Galway. She looks the other one to focus on.

Selection: LEGATISSIMO

Next Best: Jack Naylor

Cappella Sansevero can record his first win since landing the Marble Hill Stakes here in May. The Coventry Stakes runner-up is looking to build on a fine run in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes when he was beaten just over ½l into third by Dick Whittington and Kool Kompany. That effort gives him a clear edge over several of these rivals and the Coventry form got a boost when The Wow Signal, landed last weekend’s Prix Morny. Rapid Applause was just 1¼l behind Dick Whittington when third in the Anglesey Stakes. He finished fractionally behind War Envoy in the Railway Stakes when the pair were third and fourth to Kool Kompany (a below par Cappella Sansevero was fifth) and could well reverse form with Aidan O’Brien’s representative. The Group 1 entrant Shepherd’s Purse is an interesting contestant having won a maiden in good style over this course and distance last week.

Selection: CAPPELLA SANSEVERO

Next Best: Rapid Applause

Carla Bianca is taken to record her third straight victory at stakes level. She wouldn’t want the ground to ease any further but she coped well with good to yielding ground when winning a Gowran listed race earlier in the month, defeating Alive Alive Oh by 1¾l. Prior to that she defeated Palace in a 1m 2f listed contest at Naas. Interestingly Pat Smullen has chosen her ahead of Group 3-winning stablemate Afternoon Sunlight. Of the others Alive Alive Oh is respected while her stablemate Waltzing Matilda, who wears cheek pieces for the first time, is another to consider. Her last two runs have been over 7f and she hasn’t run at all badly on either occasion but she did win her maiden over 1m and she was less than 1½l behind Afternoon Sunlight in a Leopardstown Group 3 in May. The English raider Odeliz boasts a compelling piece of form in the shape of her second to Thistle Bird at Epsom but she is declared for Sandown today.

Selection: CARLA BIANCA

Next Best: Waltzing Matilda

4.05 DEREK O’SULLIVAN MEMORIAL APPRENTICE HANDICAP (50-70) 1M 2F

A speculative vote goes to Weld Arab as his first handicap run in Galway was reasonably encouraging. He was beaten over 8l into sixth by Pyromaniac but that did look quite a hot handicap for the grade. The son of Shamardal could give a good account of himself. Sli Na Fiarana has been hurdling lately but she did run several solid races on the flat last season and was placed in a couple of reasonable handicaps over this trip at Navan. Those efforts included a second to Beach Of Falesa off a mark 6lb higher than the one she runs off today so she could be given a definite chance. The recent Gowran winner Zelos Dream is another to keep in mind and she has just a 4lbs rise to contend with.

Selection: WELD ARAB

Next Best: Sli Na Fiarana

Defining Year served notice that a major handicap prize was within his reach when beaten just over 1l into fourth by Vastonea in the Topaz Mile at Galway last time. The six-year-old looked unlucky having been short of room at a vital stage and if he turns up in similar form he must have a major chance. Sretaw has filled the runner-up spot on her last six starts. She is some 23lbs higher than when recording her last victory (which came over this course and distance in October) but is keeping pace with her escalating rating. She was beaten a head by Hasanour at Galway and she meets that rival on 8lb better terms. Hasanour looks a strong contender having followed his Galway victory with a course and distance success last weekend. If the ground dried out he can be expected to mount a strong challenge. The Topaz Mile winner Vastonea and Hint Of A Tint, who showed up well in sixth that day, are others to note along with Captain Joy.

Selection: DEFINING YEAR

Next Best: Sretaw

Oor Jock was unplaced in the handicap won by Tylery Wonder but that run is best ignored as he got no run whatsoever over the last couple of furlongs and was still beaten less than 3l. Pencil Hill was another eye catcher from that race having also endured a luckless passage and he finished 1l in front of Oor Jock in fifth. If either horse had got a clear run they would have gone close to winning and both should again be closely involved here although Pencil Hill is perhaps drawn lower than ideal. Invincible Ridge, who has run some of his best races over this course and distance, has almost 3l to make up on Oor Jock from Leopardstown while his third to Greek Canyon at Fairyhouse is another credible piece of form.

Selection: OOR JOCK

Next Best: Pencil Hill
