THE unbeaten Shadwell Stable-owned Mohaymen will make his much-awaited three-year-old debut in the Lambholm South Holy Bull Stakes (Grade 2) at Gulfstream Park tonight.
Regarded as the top three-year-old prospect on the East Coast, Mohaymen is the third major Triple Crown contender Kiaran McLaughlin has started off in this race in which Frosted finished second last year. Since arriving in South Florida last month, Mohaymen, a grey son of Tapit, has worked well last week.
McLaughlin said: “It’s very exciting. He’s training great and done everything right. He works well every time and comes back, and doesn’t blow out a match.”
Mohaymen has progressed well since a half-length debut victory September and won the Grade 2 Remsen at Aqueduct last year. Regular rider Junior Alvarado comes in from New York for the mount.
Greenpointcrusader and Conquest Big E were separated by a half-length in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile when they finished seventh and eighth, and line up again.

A son of champion Bernardini, Greenpointcrusader came from off the pace, and cruised by four and a half lengths in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont, four weeks before the Breeders’ Cup. John Velazquez rides.
Conquest Stables’ Conquest Big E finished second in his debut before he captured his second start. He capped his juvenile season with a two-length allowance race win in November. With Mark Casse, Conquest Big E is another Tapit colt who has thrived in South Florida and Mike Smith rides.
Completing the field are Fellowship, impressive winner of the Florida Stallion In Reality Stakes last October at Gulfstream, and maiden winners Frontier Ranger and Perfect Saint.
