Bowe champion for fifth time

CHAMPION handler for the fifth time, Colin Bowe saddled 32 winners this season and Barry O’Neill rode 25 of them.

Accepting his trophy, Bowe paid tribute to the role played by his head man Brendan Walsh and jockey Rob James before expressing his satisfaction at seeing O’Neill crowned champion. Over half of O’Neill’s 422 career winners have been trained by Bowe.

“Barry first came to me when he was very small, 11 or 12,” recalled the Kiltealy trainer. “He has wanted to be champion for the past few years and I am glad to have played a part.”
