Alison Corr

What is your earliest point-to-point memory?

Dromoland in Co Clare as a child. I went with my mum and my dad.

How did you get involved in racing?

My mum was quite a successful amateur rider and I suppose I kind of inherited it from her.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

Oh I’m not sure. I’ve no idea! I love a good sing song.

Who do you admire most in racing?

Who do I admire? I used to always look up to Conor O’Dwyer when I was starting off. He was a brilliant National Hunt jockey and he had brilliant horses.

What is your proudest memory in racing?

It was definitely riding my thousand winners.

If you weren’t involved with horses, what do you think you would be doing?

I’d be a full-time farmer. Very easy lifestyle.

How do you relax outside of horses?

I actually quite like a game of golf. It’s a summertime hobby so I’ll do it when I get the chance.

What’s your worst habit?

My inability to make a decision and I’m always putting people off because of it.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Very lucky. Definitely lucky.

If you could be someone else for the day, who would it be?

Willie Mullins.

What advice would you give to someone starting off in racing?

Surround yourself with good people and model yourself from that.

What were you like as a kid?

Bold! In school I was constantly getting suspended and getting detention. I used to do a lot of dossing. It was very hard to settle in a routine. Just wanted to work with horses really.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

Other jockeys smoking in the weigh tent.

If you could learn one skill, what would it be?

The guitar. But I know how to play the tin whistle.

What’s your biggest regret in life?

No regrets I’d say actually.
