My grandfather is a trainer. My mother’s always loved horses so ponies were around all the time.

Who was your first winner?

Optimus Prime in Dromahane when I was 17 or 18. I think.

What do you think you’d be doing if you weren’t involved with horses?

I’ve no clue. It’s always been horses for me.

How do you relax outside of horses?

I don’t really relax outside of horses! I watch sport a lot. I’ll watch anything in general.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

People being too tidy.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Hard-working, genuine and honest. The normal three really.

Is there a saying you live by?

I’ve gone blank! Eh. Whatever you put in you get out of it.

Who is your biggest supporter?

Mick Winters I suppose. He’s been supportive throughout my career in every way.

Is there a goal you’re aiming for in life?

Riding as many winners as I can and to have a big bank balance. After that, training horses would be my long-term goal.

Shoeing horses definitely. If I weren’t into racing that is what I’d definitely be doing.
