THERE should have been a point-to-point in the northern region last Saturday but, earlier in the month, the Route had to call off their spring meeting as their track outside Portrush was deemed unfit for racing.
For some time, the northern campaign has concluded with the two-day Fermanagh fixture at Necarne Castle, Irvinestown which this year has the dates of Friday and Saturday, May 18th and 19th.
However, should enough owners and handlers express an interest, the Route are prepared to seek sanction for a meeting on Saturday, June 2nd.
The hunt’s senior Master, Philip White, who is often a steward or judge at the point-to-point, would like to hear from those who support the rescheduling.
He can be contacted on 0044 7732 630963.
White says the hunt will do all in their power to provide good ground while the later date could well appeal to holiday makers along the north-west coast.
