THE Mid Antrim point-to-point, scheduled for Saturday, October 7th at Toomebridge, had been cancelled.

The only available option for rearranging the fixture is the fourth Saturday in November. The first meeting in the northern region will thus be the East Antrim fixture at Loughanmore on Saturday, October 14th.

The business of getting horses ready for the point-to-point season continues nonetheless and this week Newry trainer Liam Lennon had hunter certificates lodged for two geldings and three mares, three of whom are four-year-olds.

Stuart Crawford, Noel Kelly, Neil McKnight and Karen McNeilly each lodged a certificate for a single horse and, while Karl Thornton is based in north Co Dublin, the three horses for whom he has lodged Fingal Harriers certs all belong to Brian Smyth.

The trio are four-year-olds and the one not carrying Smyth’s Shanroe prefix is the French-bred Duke Master, a gelding by Speedmaster out of a Johann Quatz mare.
