THE organisers of the point-to-point at Dromahane tomorrow will be hoping to raise plenty of money for the Duhallow Hunt, the Irish Injured Jockeys fund and the Point-to-Point Handlers’ Association as the meeting has attracted 171 entries.

All races are sponsored, with the winning rider in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, Castle Hyde & Grange Studs ladies’ open receiving a hamper of Rought Foodie products. Aidan Fitzgerald and Tom Singleton are sponsoring the best turned-out award in each race.

With divides a certainty, there will be a later than planned start for the Pony Club race, which has also been divided, but the young riders will find the wait worthwhile as they will be receiving plenty of advice from both Jamie Codd and Derek O’Connor. Ciaran Fennessy will be giving participants a lead over the first half of the six-furlong races.

ENTERTAINED

Pony rides, bouncy castles, artisan food and a dog show will keep spectators of all ages entertained between races but for many the highlight of the day will be the final stages of the Posh Tosh most appropriately-dressed person competition. This is not only being sponsored by Shark Hanlon but the Co Carlow trainer has been persuaded to act as judge as well!
