JAMIE Codd reached another milestone in his illustrious career between the flags when riding his 1,000th winner across all codes aboard Hitman Fred at Bartlemy on Sunday.
The Wexford native recorded a four-timer at the Cork track following a double at Necarne the previous day.
Two of his winners came from the in-form yard of Denis Murphy, form whom Codd has ridden 18 winners this season. Other winners on the day came aboard the Declan Queally-trained Allannahs Gold in the confined maiden and then aboard his brother’s Imperial Oscar in the first division of the six-year-old and upwards maiden.
It was a busy week for the Wexfordman as he went on to partner Sizing Solution to success for Jim Dreaper at Killarney and journeyed to Sedgefield on Tuesday to win on Way Out West for Stuart Crawford.
Codd reached another milestone last month at Punchestown when he took the champion amateur riders’ title for the first time having recorded 41 winners during the season, one more than Patrick Mullins.
