FABIAN Burke is a name that crept onto the circuit last season with two winners from only nine runners but is one which could well be worth taking note of this season.

Kildare native Burke, brother of flat jockey Robbie, spent 14 years with Kevin Prendergast.

However, when approached by Tower View Stables in Kilmeage, Co Kildare about 15 minutes off the Curragh, to be the resident handler he took the opportunity.

The early signs are that his ability to craft the course of a National Hunt four-year-old is as adept as his handling of two-year-olds were with Prendergast on the Curragh.

Tower View Stables is owned by Edelle Logan who is married to well-known pointing enthusiast Joey Logan.

Tower View Stables, along with London based businessman Alan Harte, own all the horses in the yard either in partnership or separately.

Logan, her husband Joey, his father Joseph along with Dubliner Harte have enjoyed being involved with buying and selling horses including Logans Run, Vasco Du Mee and leading Cheltenham novice chase candidate Champagne West.

Donald McCain also speaks favourably of Westend Star who won a maiden for Burke at Askeaton last season and is due to run soon for new connections having been sold at Brightwells new Cheltenham Festival sale for a six-figure sum.

While they have a strong team of young horses to run this season in points from this newly built facility, they also buy and sell younger stock and have been active in most NH sales over the last few seasons.

There is plenty of young stock coming through too, either for the upcoming store sales or to go into training including a half-brother to Brindisi Breeze and a half-sister to The New One.

Below is the team which are now heading into this season and they consist of good quality and well-bred promising youngsters.

ALPHA MALE (FR)

4yo g

Poliglote - Arzuaga (Alflora)

Edelle Logan

This fellow is going very well and seems to be very forward. He is just over 16hh and was bought at the Land Rover Sale for €38,000. Given how well he seems to be going at this stage, he could well go to Punchestown in early February.

BAKOUNINE BELLEVUE (FR)

4yo g

Laveron - Noces d’Or (Agent Bleu)

Alan Harte

This fellow came from the Land Rover Sale for €24,000. He is over 16hh and is doing everything we have asked of him. I would think he will be one for later in the spring and some nicer ground.

CHAMPERS ON ICE (IRE)

5yo gr g

Robin des Champs - Miss Nova (Ra Nova)

Alan Harte

This is one of the most exciting horses we have in the yard. He was bought privately as a two-year-old. He has done everything right so far and stands about 16.3 so we haven’t rushed him. He had an entry before Christmas but we felt it was best to give him a little longer so he should now run before the end of the month. We expect a lot from him and he could develop into a top class horse in time.

CONSTRUCTIVE TRUST (IRE)

5yo g

Kalanisi - Get A Few Bob Back

A Harte/E Logan

This fellow cost €17,000 from the 2013 Land Rover Sale and is from the family of Celtic Shot. He is a nice type and about 16.2. It seems likely that he will be ready to run around the end of February and he goes very well.

EASTON EXPRESS (IRE)

6yo g

Flemensfirth - Wyndham Roberta (Bob Back)

Alan Harte

This is a real chasing type who stands over 17hh so we have had to give him time to develop. I bought him privately as he is related to Champagne West and so far he has been very exciting in anything he has done for us. He is another who should be ready to run in the next six weeks and will be seen on a bigger circuit to make use of his size and scope as he jumps exceptionally well.

FAMOUS FOUNTAIN (IRE)

5yo g

Robin des Champs - Going My Way (Henbit)

A Harte/E Logan

This fellow stood out at the August Sales in 2013 and was bought for €40,000. He is a fine, big chasing type and would be very similar in fact to Champagne West in many ways. He may run at Loughanmore where Champagne West won as he will need a good galloping circuit to bring the best out of him. We won’t rush him though as he looks a bit special. He is out of an own-sister to Samuel Wilderspin and from the family of Kribensis so there is some smart speed in the pedigree also which should give him a nice mix.

NOBEL LEADER (IRE)

5yo b g (F)

Alflora - Ben Roseler (Beneficial)

Edelle Logan

This fellow is a half-brother to the Lucinda Russell trained 10-time winner Lie Forrit who is a blacktype performer. He showed a lot at home and went off even-money favourite for his only start at Tattersalls but fell four out. We decided to give him a wind operation since then and he is now back and should be ready to run again within the next six weeks. He is a nice scopey type and we are really looking forward to him.

PANCRACE (FR)

4yo g Laveron - Darnaway (Pelder)

Alan Harte

This fellow is out of a dual-winning mare in France who was also placed 10 times and she has bred one winner from one runner so her ability as a broodmare looks very encouraging also. He cost £35,000 at Doncaster in May and is very sharp and coming to hand very quickly and should run early. He is the sort of horse who would be well able to contest a bumper once he is sold as he seems to have a lot of gears and hopefully all goes well for him in his point as someone could have a lot of fun with him very early.

UNNAMED

5yo g

Gamut - Final Peace (Satco)

Edelle Logan

This fellow was bought privately from his breeder and is a full-brother to Final Pass who won a maiden hurdle impressively for Donald McCain earlier this year by 13 lengths. He was a little weak when we got him so he could be one for later in the spring but he is from the family of Teeton Mill, Celtic Ryde and Arbor Supreme so worth waiting for.

4yo g

Beneficial - Baile An Droichid (Kings Ride)

Alan Harte

This is a horse we really like. He is a full-brother to the Stuart Crawford-trained Gilt Shadow who is rated 140 over hurdles from only three outings. In fact he was only beaten just over two lengths in a Grade 1 bumper at Punchestown. He seems to be very forward so he will run in a four-year-old maiden in mid-spring and is one we are particularly looking forward to. He is also a half-brother to another blacktype performer in Shanann Lady and his dam is an own-sister to Ounavarra Creek.

UNNAMED

4yo g

Scorpion - Manesbil (Fourstars Allstar)

Alan Harte

This is a fine, big, scopey individual who was a €37,000 purchase at the Derby Sale. His dam won a maiden hurdle on her hurdling debut for Paul Nolan and this fellow is coming along nicely. He has plenty of size standing about 16.3hh and schools very well. If he continues to go forward we will run him in a four-year-old maiden in the spring.

UNNAMED

4yo g

Flemensfirth - Wingfield Lady (Erdelisten)

Alan Harte

This fellow was a €40,000 acquisition from the Derby Sale and is a good strong type. He currently looks as though he will run in a four-year-old maiden in the spring. He has a lovely pedigree being from the family of Ballynagour, Mighty Mogul, Court Leader and Line Ball so we expect him to develop into a nice type.

UNNAMED

4yo g

Act One - Lucky Arrow (Indian Ridge)

Alan Harte

This fellow is a half-brother to four winners and cost £31,000 at Doncaster in May. This is one of the most forward of the four-year-olds. He has taken his work extremely well and is coming to hand in such a way that he could well run in the early four-year-old maiden races. He jumps exceptionally well also and has done nothing wrong to date.

UNNAMED

4yo g

King’s Theatre - Double Red (Thatching)

Alan Harte

This fellow came from the Land Rover Sale and cost €52,000. He has looked very smart in everything he has done so far and is coming to hand quickly which could see him run in one of the earlier four-year-old maiden races. His dam won a flat race and three hurdles for Alan King and he is related to a lot of smart flat winners so he should have a lot of speed also.

UNNAMED

4yo g

Milan - Pharney Fox (Phardante)

Edelle Logan

This fellow is a half-brother to three winners and two of them won bumpers. He is also a half-brother to Bale O’Shea and the second dam has bred six winners also. He is nicely-bred being by Milan and out of a Phardante mare. He is a well-made sort and about 16.1hh and came from the Land Rover Sale for €20,000.

UNNAMED

4yo g

Beneficial - Pattern Queen (Alderbrook)

Edelle Logan

This is a very nice sort who came from the Derby Sale and is from a lovely old family of Keen Leader, Glyde Court, Brockley Court and Davenport Democrat. He is a big 16.3hh chasing type and one that we may well give time to before we see the best of him. I wouldn’t rule out running him in the autumn as he will be a lovely type after another summers grass.

UNNAMED

4yo m

Beneficial - Regents Dancer (IRE) (Flemensfirth)

Edelle Logan

This filly was bought for me by Dermot Clarke and she is a half-sister to Mrs Robin who ran once as a four-year-old last spring at Fairyhouse point-to-point and was a close second to Lifeboat Mona who has since won a decent bumper so that was promising. This mare seems to be a real tough type so we are looking forward to seeing how she gets on.
