WHILE the horseracing world celebrates its Irish Champions Festival weekend, another racing code will also be celebrating its champion in nearby Shelbourne Park.

The biggest night in the greyhound racing calendar, the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby Final, will light up Dublin 4 next Saturday.

The competition has been running over the past month, with an original field of 144 now whittled down to just six, competing for the winner’s prize of €125,000. The final is due off around 9.30pm with a supporting card stacked with quality races.

Shelbourne Park underwent an award-winning refurbishment in late 2024 and now boasts a modern and inviting interior. Doors open next Saturday at 4.30pm, with music and entertainment laid on before racing gets underway at 7.30pm.

Admission is just €25 and can be paid on arrival or booked online for best value deals.
