GRADE 1 action resumes in Britain on Monday with the Challow Novices' Hurdle at Newbury. Nine runners remain engaged in the two and a half mile event, headed by the Paul Nicholls-trained No Drama This End.

Impressive in two graded race wins at Cheltenham and Sandown already this season, the five-year-old by Walk In The Park aims to give Nicholls a seventh victory in the Newbury race.

Nicholls has mentioned No Drama This End in the same breath as the mighty Denman.

His chief opponent on Monday looks to be Starzand, trained by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White. A £230,000 purchase following his Irish point-to-point win, Starzand only has two Ffos Las wins to his name so far for new connections but he has looked potentially top class.

Mares' chase

There is big Irish interest at Monday's Doncaster meeting where Willie Mullins runs both Spindleberry and Fun Fun Fun in the Listed Mares' Chase. Spindleberry is a Grade 1 winner over fences and does not have to concede any weight to her three main rivals in the two and a half mile race. Danny Mullins takes the ride on the favourite, while Bryony Frost has been booked to ride the front-running Fun Fun Fun.
