Last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Daryz continued his four-year-old season with another impressive win when he took the Group 1 Prix Aga Khan IV (Prix d'Ispahan) over nine furlongs.

This followed up his win in the Group 1 Prix Ganay over a mile, two and a half furlongs last month.

Sosie had looked one of the dangers based on his good from overseas but he was being pushed along early as Qilin Queen made the running from Leffard, winner last season of the Grand Prix de Paris.

Leffard took it up early in the straight but the Aga Khan runner was always going the better and Mickael Barzalona quickly sent Daryz alongside and they hit the front before the furlong mark and accelerated away to win impressively by three and half lengths with four lengths back to Sosie in third.

Trainer Francis Graffard said afterwards: “He’s an exceptional horse. He's a bit of a boy.

“He was very relaxed through the run, he was able to follow the pace easily and his jockey always had him where he wanted him. For me, the important thing was to give him a relatively straightforward race as we continue to build up to Ascot. He will come on for that again.

“The Prince of Wales’s will be next and I’m not in a rush to go up to a mile and a half before the Arc. I could even run him over a mile," he added.

Speaking on At The Races, Princess Zahra Aga Khan said: "He was as cool as a cucumber! He didn't seem to be bothered by anything in the race. He's an impressive horse."

Daryz was left at 6/4 favourite for the Prince Of Wales's Stakes next month.

Earlier on the card, last year's Royal Ascot Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes winner Lazzat got back to winning ways over seven furlongs in the Group 3 Prix du Palais-Royal.
