Nominations up for grabs with new Curragh sponsor

NOMINATIONS to promising young sire Maranoa Charlie will be up for grabs at the Curragh as part of a new sponsorship deal with Churchill Tyres - the group who were announced this week as the title backer for the Group 2 Beresford Stakes for the next three years.

Charlie Bond, CEO of Churchill Tyres, saw his Bond Thoroughbred Ltd colours carried to Group 1 victory by Maranoa Charlie in last year’s Prix de la Foret, and he has lent his support to what is traditionally one of the stronger juvenile blacktype events in Ireland each season. The two most recent winners, Hotazhell and Hawk Mountain, have gone on to win at the highest level, while the wider roll of honour includes top sorts such as Sea The Stars, St Nicholas Abbey and Azamour.

As part of the new link-up with the Curragh, all breeders of winners at the Curragh from July to November will be entered in a draw to win a free nomination to Maranoa Charlie, who resides at Tally Ho Stud.

In addition, the breeder of the winner of the Beresford Stakes will receive a free nomination to the Wootton Bassett four-year-old (currently standing at a fee of €20,000). The Group 2 takes place on September 26th as part of the Goffs Million card.

“We are very excited to partner with the Curragh Racecourse and to support one of the most prestigious juvenile races in the Irish flat racing calendar,” said Bond.

“The Churchill Tyres Beresford Stakes provides the ideal platform to strengthen our involvement in the sport while also showcasing Maranoa Charlie to breeders and racing enthusiasts.

“This partnership reflects our long-term commitment to both racing and breeding. By offering a nomination to Maranoa Charlie as part of the sponsorship, we hope to give breeders the opportunity to experience an exciting young sire while celebrating success both on and off the racecourse. We look forward to working with The Curragh over the next three years to build a successful partnership.”
