Sky Majesty made it two wins at Naas from as many visits from her Newmarket base with an authoritative success in the Group 3 Tally-Ho Stud Irish EBF Ballyogan Stakes.

To crown a good week for trainer William Haggas, the winner of a listed race at the Kildare track last month, returned in search of Group 3 honours and looked the part in winning by a length and three-quarters under Tom Marquand, who is now also two from two at Naas.

Her victory over Vespertilio made a it a good day in racing terms for Brighton & Hove Albion chairman Tony Bloom, who owns the winner in partnership with Ian McAleavy, as he does Venetian Sun, who struck Group 1 gold just over half an hour earlier in France.

Marquand said: “She was obviously good over here the last day, but it was a muddling pace and slower ground which helped her a lot.

“She was a Group 2 winner last year and is coming back to herself now. She felt fantastic there today off a much better pace.

“They will be looking to get some Group 1 form into her and she is shaping back as if that is realistic. She’s really improving on into the deep end of the season.”

Notable achievement

The other notable achievement on the card was another treble for jockeys’ title chasing Dylan Browne McMonagle in the first three races.

Caught U Looking made a promising start to her career with victory in the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Fillies Maiden.

The Noel Meade-trained youngster (17/2) quickened in eye-catching fashion inside the final furlong to win with her ears pricked.

Meade said: “We thought from the first time we got her she was good. She is a little bit fizzy, and I was a bit afraid first time out she might boil up a bit, but she didn’t at all. She was very relaxed.

“I said to Kevin O’Ryan (agent) that I needed a good jockey, and he said Dylan would ride her but he might have to put up a 1lb over. I said the horse would win and he did the weight.”

He added: “With those sort of fillies you nearly have to go for a stakes race. Dylan was very positive about her after the race.”

McMonagle quickly doubled up with Michael O’Callaghan’s Dawn Romance (11/8 favourite) in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, the needing every yard of her first try at six furlongs to get up on the line.

O’Callaghan said: “She’s very laid back. I thought she would sharpen up more from the first day and she didn’t. She ran a similar sort of race.

“She’s a filly that we hold in decent regard, and we think that she might just need a bit of headgear to help her sharpen up.

“She’s the most genuine filly you could have with a great head carriage, but might just need a bit of help to sharpen up.

Fresh Fade (16/5) completed a double for the trainer and the rider’s treble in winning the six-furlong Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden.
