non-trier appeal
THE 10lb claimer Rebecca Parsons and trainer David Marnane have won their appeals against ‘non-trier’ penalties imposed by the stewards at Listowel following the running of Sonic Sahiba in a two-year-old maiden. The filly was having her third start when finishing fifth of 11. Parsons was suspended for 14 days, Marnane was fined €3,000 and the filly banned from racing for 60 days.
Having heard evidence from jockey and trainer - and taking into account the jockey’s riding style and experience, the Appeals Body allowed the appeals.
