THE Irish Racehorse Trainers Association will stage its annual general meeting on Monday (March 23rd) at 5pm in the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, Co Kildare.
SOME of the highest rated racehorses in training from across Europe are among the entries for the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on Sunday, May 24th. Now worth €500,000, the 10-furlong race has attracted 38 entries, headed by world champion Calandagan. His trainer Francis Graffard has also entered Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Daryz and multiple Group 1 winner Goliath. Christophe Ferland has entered his Prix Vermeille winner Aventure. Other top-class entries from Britain include Ombudsman, Kalpana, Almaqam and Bay City Roller. Aidan O’Brien’s eight entries are headed by Minnie Hauk, Jan Brueghel, Lambourn and The Lion In Winter.
CONSTITUTION Hill will be ridden by Ryan Moore in a 12-furlong conditions flat race at Kempton next Wednesday evening. The former Champion Hurdle winner is a 2/7 chance to record his second win on the flat at the track where he has occasionally had a pre-Cheltenham workout in recent years.
DAVID and Grace Fenton from Fermoy in Cork have won the Connolly’s Red Mills The Irish Field Breeder of the Month competition for February. They bred Oscars Brother, winner of the Grade 2 Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan, his second Grade 2 success of the season.
