AN impressive Gordon Elliott-trained flat maiden winner has been listed among the latest imports to Hong Kong, arriving into the jurisdiction last weekend.
Sugar Goodson, bought for 40,000gns from Tally-Ho Stud at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2024, caused a 33/1 upset on debut in a mile maiden at Navan on his two-year-old debut in October - and that form has since been franked by runner-up James J Braddock winning readily at the Curragh next time out.
Sapphire Racing’s Sea The Moon gelding will now be trained by Danny Shum. Jack Davison-trained Curragh nursery winner Stop The Nation (rated 94 after finishing seventh in the Goffs Million) is also now listed as being with Shum. Kansas, who won a Tipperary maiden before finishing second in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes in a busy juvenile campaign, has left Aidan O’Brien to join David Hayes. Diego Dias’ 85-rated maiden Unbreakable Duke (second in the Irish EBF Ballyhane Stakes in August) is heading to Hayes too.
Consistent three-year-old handicapper Mathan (rated 83) has departed Joseph O’Brien for Brett Crawford.
Included in another recent batch of Irish-trained horses bound for Hong Kong last month were Romeo Sensini (a 10-length maiden winner for Andy Slattery at Roscommon in May) and Solomon Islands (Leopardstown winner on debut in August for Eric McNamara). Pierre Ng will train the latter, while John Size has been transferred the former.
