EMMET Mullins’ newest chapter at Coolcullen has been given a notable boost with Kia Joorabchian revealing his intention for Amo Racing to support the Grand National-winning trainer with both flat and possible National Hunt horses.

The prominent ownership operation could break new ground this weekend by having a first National Hunt runner in Ireland, with one-time Derby hope Dallas Star entered for a maiden hurdle at Navan on Saturday. It would also be their first time teaming up with Mullins.

Dallas Star, who finished second to Scandinavia in the Listed Vintage Crop Stakes at the same venue earlier this season, has joined Mullins from Robson de Aguiar, while the ex-Kevin Philippart De Foy-trained Square Necker has also made the move to Soldier In Milan’s handler. A recent Amo yearling purchase at Tattersalls is joining Mullins too.

Up to this point, Amo’s purple and white silks had solely been focused on flat racing. Meanwhile, last week, Mullins revealed his own intention to concentrate more on the flat, when switching stables to Bolger’s famous base.

Speaking to The Irish Field from the Keeneland September Yearling Sale on Tuesday afternoon, Joorabchian said of the development: “We’ve had a little conversation and have sent Square Necker to Emmet. We've also sent him Dallas Star and we're looking to support him a little bit. Obviously, Paul [Byrne] has bought into a little bit of Square Necker. We've actually bought a yearling flat horse at the Tattersalls Somerville Sale that we are sending to him too.

“We're looking to give him a little support and hoping that the new yard will be lucky for him. He’s obviously a very talented young trainer and he’s got some good support from Paul. He can obviously be dual purpose and, for what we're looking to build in Ireland a little bit, he definitely ticks the boxes for us. We’re looking forward to working with him.”

Last month, it emerged that Joorabchian’s ownership operation is preparing to have its first representative over jumps in Britain through the Max Comley-trained Diligo. Amo Racing originally part-owned the ex-Joseph O’Brien three-year-old with Al Shaqab Racing.

What was described as a miscommunication at the Tattersalls July Sale led to Amo not managing to buy the horse back outright in the ring. They subsequently completed a deal to purchase 50% of the Wootton Bassett gelding and plan to race him over jumps.

Even with that development, however, Joorabchian insists there is no major policy change incoming for Amo Racing regarding its jumping interests. The flat will remain the operation’s clear priority.

“Obviously, we never really had National Hunt horses in the past,” he explained.

“Now we have transitioned three or four of ours into that who the trainers thought would be interesting. Fingers crossed we can support him [Emmet]. We've got one jumper in England and we’ll probably have three or four with him - that'll be us. We won't be going into the jumps business in a big way, but we would have a little bit of fun and enjoy it over the jumps season.”

Dallas Star was last seen finishing down the field in the Irish St Leger Trial behind Queenstown just four weeks ago. He holds a rating of 97 on the flat, having previously had a mark of 107 as a Group 3 Ballysax Stakes winner back in 2024.

The five-year-old has been given an entry for the Bar 1 Betting Maiden Hurdle (1.42) over two miles at Navan on Saturday, a race that has attracted 65 entries.

Square Necker, also now rated 97, was last seen finishing mid-field in the Ebor at York, having earlier in the season got closest to Constitution Hill at Southwell.
