Following a total of 35mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, the track at Navan is now unfit for racing due to waterlogging. There will be a 3pm inspection on Saturday ahead of the fixture scheduled to take place on Sunday.
Brian Hamilton, IHRB clerk of the course said: “There was a Status Yellow rainfall warning introduced for Meath late yesterday morning and since then we have got significantly more rain than was initially forecast.
“The Status Yellow warning for the area is to end at 12pm today and we could get a further 5-10mm of rain. However, from later today we do have a more favourable forecast and it is to be mainly dry and breezy tomorrow into Sunday.
“Due to the current conditions and the favourable forecast we will have an inspection at 3pm on Saturday to assess the situation and we’ll give a further update then.”
Naas is due to stage a jumps card on Saturday. Following 7mm of rain since declarations, the ground at Naas was described on Friday morning as "soft to heavy, heavy in places (Hurdle) & heavy, soft to heavy in places (Chase)." There is a possibility of up to 5mm (approximately) of rain there on Friday, with mainly dry conditions forecast for Saturday.
British racing
There is no jump racing taking place in Britain on Friday. Sandown called off its 'Grand Military' meeting earlier on Wednesday due to waterlogging, and Bangor followed suit on Friday morning.
The main meeting on Saturday is at Newbury, where heavy rain has turned the ground heavy on both the hurdle and chase tracks.
The fate of Uttoxeter's Saturday card will be determined by an inspection at 1pm on Friday, while Sunday's good quality card at Exeter has already been cancelled.
Newcastle is also due to stage a National Hunt meeting on Sunday but this too hinges on a 9am inspection on Saturday.
