THE main entrance to Naas Racecourse is likely to be moved within the next three years following a land deal between the track and developer Sean Mulryan.
Mulryan’s Ballymore group has acquired about 13 acres of racecourse lands with a view to developing hundreds of new homes on the site. Racing will not be affected.
The deal will see Naas receive close to €8 million but the racecourse will be liable for capital gains tax and a portion of the windfall will have to be spent relocating the main entrance.
The Irish Field understands that a public road will be constructed across some of the racecourse property which will affect the parking areas.
As a result the main entrance will have to be moved to the Dublin side of the racecourse. Horsebox parking will not be affected.
