JOE Conway, formerly of Greenvale [Gowla] Animal Feeds, died peacefully at University Hospital Waterford on February 15th after a short heart-related illness. Although he and his wife Angela lived in Ballyduff, Co Waterford for more than 50 years, he was raised in Mountbellew, Co Galway and that is where his funeral Mass and burial took place.
He was awarded a degree in Horticulture from UCD before moving to Waterford in 1974 and starting a family. Working for Irish Sugar in Mallow, he travelled the country and made friends everywhere he went.
He spent the last 15 years of his career with Greenvale/Gowla, which took him to Dubai where he enjoyed racing at Meydan. Dhruba Selvaratnam, Michael O’Hagan and Marion Hughes were among his lifelong friends from the equine world.
He is survived by his wife Angela, and daughters Ailbhe and Doireann.
