TITLE Role and Sean Levey ensured that the Coolmore City Of Troy German 2000 Guineas was kept in the sponsors’ accounts, when they landed the Group 2 at Cologne on Monday.
Title Role was a well-backed favourite and came through to lead before the furlong marker, as the runners fanned out across the straight. He overhauled Oisin Murphy on the locally-trained Asker, before holding the late challenges of fellow British raider Shayem (Karl Burke) and home-runner Loucas.
The Too Darn Hot colt had won the UAE 2000 Guineas in February and was fifth in the Greenham.
Simon and Ed Crisford’s colt had that form receiving a boost in the Irish equivalent on Saturday, when runner-up Pacific Avenue finished third behind Gstaad.
Crisford indicated he will be travelling to seek opportunities later in the year. “I wouldn’t say a turning track is important to him, but it does seem to suit him well, so we could easily look at some races in America during the summer for him,” Crisford said via Racing Post.

Adventure back in front
IT was a quiet pre-Chantilly Prix Jockey-Club in France, but there were still a few good performances at Sunday’s ParisLongchamp meeting.
The now five-year-old mare Adventure had finished five and a quarter lengths behind Daryz in the Prix Gany and she had been second at three years in Bluestocking’s Arc, though she was down the field in last year’s race.
She got back to winning ways in the Group 2 Prix Corrida for Fillies & Mares over a mile, two and a half furlongs, going off short-priced favourite and beating Sunly by three-quarters of a length for Christophe Ferland and Maxime Guyon.
The Group 3 Prix Hocquart over a mile and three furlongs brought another win in the Aga Khan colours via the even-money favourite Varandir. Another by Zarak, the three-year-old colt remains unbeaten in three races and won this by a length and a quarter for Mickael Barzalona and Francis-Henri Graffard
The Hugo Palmer-trained Seagulls Eleven justified favouritism by two lengths in the mile listed contest, the Prix de Montretout, under Christophe Soumillon.
