CAOIMHE O’Brien, who led up Final Orders at Cheltenham and refers to the bay as “a horse in a millon”, wasn’t in Czechia last weekend as, on a break from home, she has been working with leading US jumps trainer Leslie Young in Unionville, Pennsylvania.

The latter sent out three winners, all Irish-breds, last Saturday with Garristown amateur O’Brien landing the three-mile modified timber race for amateur and apprentices at the Genesee Valley meeting in New York State on Total Joy who was previously trained in England by Chris Wall.

O’Brien and the seven-year-old Ribchester gelding scored by two and a half lengths from the Mark Beecher-trained Old Style Humor. That nine-year-old Aizavoski gelding was ridden by Dunshaughlin amateur Harry O’Dwyer who later partnered Beecher’s charge Track And Trace, a nine-year-old Mahler gelding, to victory in the featured Genesee Valley Hunt Cup, a three-and-a-half-mile timber race.

For the record, Young sent out two winners at the Virginia Fall meeting in Middleburg on Saturday, the Inns Of Court gelding Private Larry, who dead-heated for first in the three-year-old hurdle, and the seven-year-old Walk In The Park gelding Foxy Walk who landed the two-mile, five-furlong chase. Both were ridden by Freddie Procter.
