FOXHUNTER CHASE

CHALLENGE CUP

NINA Carberry was a hugely popular Irish winner when she streaked home on the Enda Bolger-trained On The Fringe in the Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup – the amateur riders’ Gold Cup.

Carberry was carried out of Wednesday’s Glenfarclas Handicap Chase – a race she has landed three times down the years – when going well on the JP McManus-owned Quantitativeeasing, but she pulled it out of the bag yesterday to land her fifth Festival victory in the same colours of the leading owner.

“I’m speechless,” she said. “I’m so happy for Enda and and JT (McNamara) as well, he believed in this horse the whole time and always said he would win a Foxhunter.

IMPRESSIVE

“Today he was so impressive. I’m so glad JP (McManus) and Enda let me back on him because I’m down at Aidan O’Brien’s now and I can’t ever go in like I used to.”

The 6/1 winner is likely to go to Aintree next according to Bolger, who claimed the race for the second time. Following Dreams (50/1) took the runner-up berth from 11/4 favourite Paint The Clouds in third.
