AT Deauville last Saturday, Jimmy Two Times ran out the impressive winner of the Group 3 Prix de la Porte Maillot in the hands of Vincent Cheminaud.

The pair had a comfortable length to spare over the English visitor Jallota at the post but the former Irish-trained Steip Amach could only manage fifth place after falling back as the seven-furlong event came to a close.

Trained by André Fabre, Jimmy Two Times is a progressive sort. Andreas Putsch owns the son of Kendargent and his racing manager Crispin de Moubray said: “The Prix Maurice de Gheest is now certainly the plan as we want to keep him to a similar distance. He has plenty of speed and does it naturally.”

OUTSIDER

The Irish-bred and owned Rapacity Alexander was a disappointing favourite for the Prix du Bois. Given every chance by Gerald Mosse, the filly led for most of the five furlongs but was going nowhere during the final furlong.

The winner, Cosachope, was the outsider of the six runners and she was driven out to beat Fixette and Sans Equivoque. The runner-up and third had been beaten by Rapacity Alexander previously in the Listed Prix La Fleche, where Cosachope took sixth place.

Philippe Sogorb blamed himself for her defeat in the Fleche where she had started favourite. He said: “I gave instructions for her to be covered up and she had no rhythm. That was my error. This time I said let her run and do it herself. The Prix Robert Papin will be her next race and then, maybe, the Prix Morny. She has a lot of speed.”
