JIMMY Two Times is set to travel to England for his next start following a neat victory in the Group 2 Prix du Muguet in the hands of Vincent Cheminaud. Godolphin has made a fine investment in the colt, which came after he made a winning seasonal debut in the Prix Edmond Blanc.
A mile seems just about perfect for the son of Kendargent and either the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury or the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot now looks on the cards.
Cheminaud was winning his third group race of the season and he had very few problems on Jimmy Two Times who he mounted on the track and not in the paddock. Midfield early on, the pair started their winning run halfway up the straight and went on to hold Kourkan and Usherette who pinched third place late on by inches.
Lisa-Jane Graffard represents Godolphin in France and she said: “We are delighted to have bought him and it was a superb victory. The plan now is to run him in the Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot.”
Fabre might also consider supplementing the grey colt into the Lockinge. The runner-up Kourkan heads for the Prix d’Ispahan.
Usherette put up a significant performance as she was not bustled and came with a determined late run. The five-year-old had not run since last July and Fabre has entered her in the Queen Anne at Ascot where she won last year’s Duke of Cambridge Stakes, which could also be a target.
APPLEBY WINNER
Charlie Appleby has success at the meeting as he landed the Listed Prix de l’Avre with Wolf Country in the hands of William Buick. They made every yard of the running and were not flat out at the finish. The son of Dubawi is in the Dante Stakes and the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby but is more likely to have an easier target at Royal Ascot.
One cannot leave the May day afternoon at Saint-Cloud without mentioning the awesome winning debut of Straight Shooter in the Prix Pas de Deux.
The son of Frankel led his eight opponents a merry dance and came home alone in unraced three-year-old race, seven lengths clear of the runner-up.
Bought by Peter Doyle on behalf of South Africa’s Mayfair Speculators for €400.000 at the Arqana August yearling sale at Deauville in 2015, Fabre has so far entered the colt in the Prix du Jockey Club and the Grand Prix de Paris. Straight Shooter was a late foal (May 20th) and is certainly one for the notebook.
