1.40 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF (FILLIES) MAIDEN 1M

There is no shortage of well-bred newcomers in this fillies’ maiden, but without the benefit of seeing the market moves, the nod is given to the Jim Bolger-trained Bean Feasa. The daughter of Dubawi is a half-sister to no less than Teofilo and made an exceptionally promising debut when second to Psychedelic Funk at Naas in April. She spoiled her chance on her next start at the Curragh by rearing in the stalls and losing significant ground at the start and she is worth a chance to bounce back. Of the newcomers, the one that catches the eye is the Aidan O’Brien-trained Wild Irish Rose, a half-sister to Ruscello who is entered in all the major group races for fillies.

Selection: BEAN FEASA

Next best: Wild Irish Rose

2.10 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MAIDEN 6F

This has the looks of a smart maiden and the Jessica Harrington-trained Khukri looks to be the one to beat. The son of Sepoy made a highly-promising start to his career in a maiden over this course and distance in June, finishing second to the smart Intelligence Cross. He seems sure to improve from that and if he duly does he will set a high standard for his opposition to come up to. Of his opposition, the Michael O’Callaghan-trained De Boss Man has shaped well in his two starts to date and could well improve enough to get involved.

Selection: KHUKRI

Next best: De Boss Man

2.45 PALMERSTOWN IRISH ST LEGER TRIAL STAKES (GROUP 3) 1M 6F

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Order Of St George first came to wider attention when bolting up in last year’s renewal of this race and a repeat dose could well be in order. Since that victory he has established himself as the leading stayer in training, winning by 11 lengths in the Irish St Leger last year and overcoming trouble in running to win the Gold Cup at Ascot in June. While he is unlikely to be cherry ripe for his return from a short break, it will be a surprise if he is beaten. Of his rivals, the Dermot Weld-trained Charming Kitten is the biggest danger to him based on his third to Stellar Mass in a listed race at Down Royal.

Selection: ORDER OF ST GEORGE

Next best: Charming Kitten

3.20 JIMMY O’NEILL EXCELLENCE CURRAGH STAKES (GROUP 3) 5F

A competitive renewal of this contest and the Mick Halford-trained Yulong Baobei sets the standard. The daughter of Choisir has progressed with each of her four starts and impressed when winning the Listed Tipperary Stakes last time. The return to this firmer ground will suit and she will be tough to beat. The main danger to her may well be the Aidan O’Brien-trained Sportsmanship following his fourth-place finish in the Molecomb at Goodwood last time.

Selection: YULONG BAOBEI

Next best: Sportsmanship

3.55 AL AIN RACECOURSE HANDICAP 7F

Highly-competitive fare and a chance is taken on the Aidan Howard-trained Excelli. The six-year-old has only hinted at promise in his two runs on turf since returning from a break, but the ground was softer than ideal on both occasions. The return to this sounder surface will suit and it wouldn’t surprise to see him bounce back to form. The best of the rest could well be the Johnny Murtagh-trained Time To Reason, with the three-year-old really going the right way in winning his last two starts in great style.

Selection: EXCELLI

Next best: Time To Reason

4.30 KILDARE MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL HANDICAP 6F

Johnny Murtagh has been making a real impact with his French imports in recent weeks and Peacehaven could well complete her hat-trick here. The daughter of Rip Van Winkle overcame a trip that seemed to be a shade on the sharp side for her when winning by a nose at Naas last time and could well be able to defy her 4lb rise back over this longer trip. Of her rivals, the Dave Marnane-trained Zylan warrants respect based on his fine third at Naas last time.

Selection: PEACEHAVEN

Next best: Zylan

5.05 LONGINES WORLD FEGENTRI FOR LADIES HANDICAP 1M 4F

Another competitive handicap and the nod is given to the Adrian Keatley-trained Zeftan. The seven-year-old has acquitted himself very well in his last two starts in this type of contest, winning the Ladies Derby over this course and distance prior to finishing third at Tipperary last time. The return to this sounder surface will suit and another bold bid should be on the cards. The Dick Brabazon-trained Placere finished just ahead of the selection at Tipperary last time, but may not be as well suited by this firmer ground as the selection will.

Selection: ZEFTAN

Next best: Placere
