Wise return: Wise Dan, after recovering from colic surgery, has not raced since May. The seven-year-old, a six-time Eclipse Award-winner, has had five fast works at Saratoga (four on the main track) in preparation for his much anticipated come back. A possible start in the upcoming Grade 2 Bernard Baruch Handicap, awaits the two-time Horse of the Year.

California Chrome: The morning after his connections selected the Grade 2 Pennsylvania Derby on the September 20th for his return race, California Chrome picked up his pace at Los Alamitos Race Course last week with a bullet half-mile breeze.

Trainer Art Sherman had California Chrome’s regular rider Victor Espinoza aboard for the first time since the Belmont Stakes in June. California Chrome was clocked the fastest of 15 on the morning over the one-mile Los Alamitos oval.
