Great day for Tart
YOUNG Robert Tart had a day to remember at Haydock, winning the Group 2 bet365 Lancashire Oaks on 3/1 chance The Black Princess to follow up his victory on Zenon in the opening staying handicap. Both are trained by John Gosden.
It was unusually fast ground at the Lancashire track and The Black Princess loved it, coming from well off the pace to wear down warm favourite Abingdon close home.
On this sort of surface there is no reason why she should not take on the Group 1 fillies in the second half of the season, having already finished placed in last year’s Ribblesdale.
Dylan stuns punters
MARCO Botti has come into form recently and the trainer sent out 25/1 shot Dylan Mouth to take the valuable Old Newton Cup over a mile and a half.
This was his first British handicap since joining Botti over a year ago and he picked up well for Harry Bentley to reel in Soldier In Action.
Charlie Hills completed an across-the-card double, Magical Memory getting up for Andrea Atzeni to deny surprise favourite Kachy in the conditions sprint over six furlongs. The trainer was pondering the Darley July Cup, although the winner had a hard race here.
