CIEREN Fallon, son of the mercurial former champion Kieren, gained the biggest win of his nascent career when guiding Time To Study to victory in the Old Borough Cup at Haydock last Saturday, and will doubtless be in the frame should Ian Williams choose to aim the son of Motivator at the Cesarewitch at Newmarket next month.

Champion

Galway native and former pony racing champion Rossa Ryan has made a big impact since joining the Richard Hannon stable at the start of 2017.

He landed his first pattern win when Duke Of Hazzard won the Celebration Mile last month, and he maintained his run of televised winners when Apparate landed the Lavazza Stakes over one and a half miles at Ascot on Saturday.

Dungannon-born Barry McHugh rode the first treble of his career at Wolverhampton on Saturday evening, courtesy of victories aboard Moon Of Love, Stone Soldier and Blyton Lass.

Fahey again

Peter Fahey and Oisin Orr teamed up to land the apprentice handicap at York on Sunday with Shamad, adding to the five-year-old gelding’s win in the Amateurs’ Derby at the Curragh last month.

Elliott double

Perth once again proved rich pickings for Irish stables, with Gordon Elliott landing the almost obligatory double with wins from Carrie Des Champs and Holy Motivation.

Paul Flynn landed the closing bumper with Doyen Breed.
