THIS is the time of year to look closely at Charlie Longsdon’s jumpers and he was delighted with 11/10 favourite Western Miller’s fluent display in the near two and a half mile novices’ chase at Stratford on Saturday.

This was a first success for Jonathan Burke since coming over to ride for the yard and the partnership looks sure to prosper.

“A lot of my owners wanted continuity and I’m sure Johnny will provide that,” Longsdon said.

“He was a top rider in Ireland and judging by his performance on Western Miller it won’t take him long to get the hang of British tracks.”
