THE performance of the day came from the much improved Put The Kettle On who made it four wins from as many starts this season in the Audrey McGrath Memorial Rated Novice Chase.

The enthusiastic daughter of Stowaway who is trained by Henry de Bromhead for the One For Luck Racing Syndicate had already reached a rating of 133 when she lined up for this two-and-a-half-mile affair and the even-favourite produced an assured effort from the front to account for some capable rivals. Hugh Morgan’s mount overcame a mistake at the second last to defeat Victoria Bay by two and a quarter lengths. A Grade 3 novice chase at Tipperary next month could next for Put The Kettle On.

Another mare to justify her position at the head of the market was Kaletto (100/30) in the M2 Construction Mares Maiden Hurdle. On her return from a two-month break, the Dillon Maxwell-ridden mare did well to survive a blunder at the second last when she looked to have this race under control. She recovered well from that error to defeat My First Symphony by a length. Kaletto was a first winner in just over a year for trainer Mark Fagan.

Stunning first half

A stunning first half of the National Hunt season for Gavin Cromwell continued with Allduckornodinner (5/1) in the Menapia Motors Renault Opportunity Handicap Hurdle which left the trainer needing just one more winner to equal his career-best tally (33) from last term. The Conor McNamara-ridden nine-year-old, who is owned by his breeder Una Sweeney, led from halfway and bravely held off Lilly Geal by half a length to record the third success of his career.

A good run for Katie O’Farrell continued into the opener, the Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle, where Pat Flynn’s Rips Dream (7/1) provided the jockey with her third success in recent weeks. In the colours of the late Bill Foley, the dual Dundalk winner was making a winning start over jumps as he defeat Zayriyan by two and a quarter lengths.
