UNFORTUNATELY, this news was late reaching us, but there will be a racehorse to riding horse class at the upcoming St Patrick’s Coast Ride.
The event takes place this day week, Saturday, September 2nd, and, as we are not quite sure when entries close, perhaps there is a chance to still sign up.
The ride begins and ends at Downpatrick racecourse and will be judged on a formula that measures distance ridden, speed and final heart rate.
The ideal ride is the 32km PR but the formula will allow for other distances.
To be eligible your horse must meet normal criteria for racehorse to riding horse classes and you must vet before and after the ride. The vetting after must be within a prescribed time of finishing, normally 30 minutes, but this can be adjusted by the vets on the day.
