NORTHERN point-to-point fans, and others, have the opportunity today to attend racing at the Mid-Antrims’ new track on the outskirts of Broughshane where, we are informed, the complimentary bouncy castle is for children only.
Next Friday and Saturday it’s off to Largy for the Killultagh, Old Rock & Chichesters’ now annual two-day fixture. This right-handed track has produced plenty of racecourse winners since being commissioned back in 2010.
Coney Choice, who caused a major shock when beating the odds-on favourite Big Kern in the six-year-old geldings’ maiden there last year, won his second handicap hurdle last Friday at Wexford.
The son of Strategic Choice is trained in Caledon by his owner Lady Janey Gillespie.
Mares’ maiden
Racing on Friday at the Randox Laboratories facility outside Crumlin is due to start at 4pm with a four-year-old mares’ maiden while the action kicks off two hours earlier on Saturday with a similar race for geldings.
The pointing calendar continues in the Northern region with the Newry fixture at Taylorstown on Saturday, May 2nd followed by the two-day Fermanagh meeting at Necarne Castle, Irvinestown on May 15th and 16th.
