JOHN Kidd is sending three foals to next month’s rescheduled November National Hunt Sale at Tattersalls Ireland and two of the Ballyash Stud-consigned trio, who are all selling on Monday, December 14th, have updates to their pedigree page.

On Saturday last at Cheltenham, the Kerry Lee-trained Storm Control did his bit for his Sageburg half-brother (Lot 674) when making all under Richard Patrick to land the three-mile, one-furlong handicap chase for conditional jockeys and amateur riders by three-parts of a length.

This was a third success over fences for the seven-year-old whose year-older full-brother, Atlantic Storm, recorded his fourth success over the larger obstacles (to go with two over hurdles) when winning the two-mile Fred and Mercy Rimell Memorial Handicap Chase at Hereford last month.

They are out of the unraced Double Eclipse mare Double Dream (a half-sister to Grey Abbey), dam also of the King’s Theatre mare Tagrita, the winner of seven races including a listed hurdle.

As Ballyash’s Malinas filly (Lot 676) is the first foal out of the unraced Sinndarelli (by Schiaparelli), she has no siblings to help boost her cause, but her dam is a half-sister to three winners, including Runswick Royal (by Excellent Art) and Nuts Well (by Dylan Thomas).

The former has won seven times, including at listed level over fences, and he was Grade 1-placed over hurdles, whereas Nuts Well now has 11 wins to his credit.

The nine-year-old scored twice over fences last month under Downpatrick-born Danny McMenamin, landing the Grade 2 Monet’s Garden Old Roan Handicap Chase at Aintree on his latest start.

This leaves the pedigree page of Lot 675 needing an update. By the Anngrove Stud-based Marcel, the bay filly is out of the unraced Pamalee.

That 2007 Tamayaz mare is a half-sister to the Homo Sapien gelding Promalee, whose 12 wins included the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse and the Grade 2 Mersey Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree, and the Denel gelding Michael Mor who visited the winner’s enclosure eight times, his two wins over fences both being at Grade 3 level.

Five foals

The sales filly is the fifth of five foals out of Pamalee whose only runner to-date, the 2014 mare Tick Along (by Tikkanen), has been placed over hurdles for the Tom McCourt yard.

It was a good week for Kidd as, on Tuesday, the Declan Queally-trained Fenno’s Storm justified favouritism in the opportunity handicap hurdle at Limerick.

This was a third racecourse success for the nine-year-old September Storm gelding who has nine point-to-point victories to his credit. Kidd bred Fenno’s Storm out of the Broadsword mare Sword Lady.
