LONGTIME Cheltenham devotee Bryan Gault has launched a much improved website with all the betting statistics and trends for next week’s festival. “I decided last year to spend a little money on the website to make it easier fo rpeople to navigate,” he explained.

The new address is gaultstats.com where there is a dedicated page for each day of the meeting, a section titled general trends (“musings that don’t refer to any particular race”), another called best bookmaker offers (which people are unlikely to get elsewhere) and a quiz.

Bryan tries to steer clear of horses priced 3/1 and shorter and among last year’s tips were Its’afreebee (50/1 each way), Yanworth (14/1 win only) and Yorkhill (14/1 win only), who, respectively, finished third, second and first in the Neptune, and the Coral Cup winner, Diamond King (12s). Other winners were Superb Story (8s) and Empire Of Dirt (16s).

“Of course, past success is no guarantee for the future,” warned Bryan. “However, this year I like the value of Minella Rocco each-way in the Gold Cup and Footpad each-way in the Champion Hurdle. My Nap is Tango De Juilley (20/1) in the Brown Plate on Thursday – I liked him at 33s each way when he was second to Empire Of Dirt last year.”

Having raised money in the past for Cancer Research, the Jonjo Bright Trust and, last year, Marie Curie, Bryan hopes that anyone referencing the gaultstats site will use the Virgin Money Giving link to contribute to this year’s charity, North Down Samaritans.

“I aim to raise £2,000 and am near the £1,200 mark,” he reported. “The northern point-to-point bookies are always very generous and, at Tyrella on Saturday, gave me £170 for the fund.”

In any emails he has sent out, Bryan has signed off with the phrase we reproduce here, “Don’t Forget To Give”. So don’t and do!
